  1. I know what you're saying but you can't blame him, who wants a leylandii(?) Like that in their garden anyway. The maple(?) Would look a lot better with that gone!
  2. I like using the big saws in public places like that (one of the busiest roads in town on the left in the photo) had 6 people take a card whilst I was there for the day and had about 15 people film it coming down 😂 I hate people filming, it's just asking for it to go wrong!
  3. Couldn't help it! Got some big milling stuff on so needed the POWERR
  4. Had a little play with the 881 on this. The 30" bar wasn't enough and I bored the front for a bit of fun. I need some high lift wedges though. Had to pull it over with the van 😂
  5. I guess she will learn in time to come. Pay now and save later. You can remind her of the Osmo again when she's paying to have the polyeurathane sanded off as it's peeling from around the nail heads
  6. Contact local farms. I've ended up with unlimited chipping dump sites and I'm sure they could use shavings too. If not, bag it up and sell it for £2 a bag for rabbits. People pay silly money for little 2kg bags of shavings
  7. That's true. I have dye penitrant and stuff too if I wanted to be sure. I'm sure she'l be alright. My next issue is finding a data sheet for the rexroth pump on it. No info from ingimex and I'm waiting for a data sheet from bosch.
  8. I've used osmo polyx high solid with great success. Polyeurathane in my experience is good until it goes wrong like you scratch it or mess a bit up. You can touch up Osmo as it's more like an oil. It also won't have issues with metal heads
  9. Next issue is finding a data sheet for these to see what they can pump out 🤦🏼
  10. Not sure if the scissor mechanism can handle what the ram can put out though? I don't mind going over 10% but a scissor failure from a crack or something could have a whole bed slamming down on the chassis which would cause god knows how much damage
  11. To be fair, if you took a lot of cash jobs and then put that cash (say 60%) into your business account then you would create enough of a paper trail that HMRC couldn't catch you out as you aren't required to cash in each cash job as separate amounts. Not something I would bother doing as it isn't worth the risk (one guy I knew got charged mega money by HMRC) and I don't want the additional stress or wanting to watch my back! I just tell customers "It's the same price cash or bacs. With digital accounting and the dark lords of HMRC wanting to have a papertrail the old days of cash in hand are long gone". Usually gets a little chuckle and the customer understands.
  12. I'll put clean oil in and flex her for a bit then fiddle with the pressure. I need a datasheet from ingimex or something. I know what the pump is but I have no idea what the ram can take!
  13. I got the leather strapped bottoms with Velcro tops in the end. I'll report back next week with how I get on with them!
  14. I'm in the process of getting one. Mainly for elderly clients or small jobs. They don't often carry a lot of cash and having to arrange Bacs payment with a carer or whoever has power of attorney can be a nightmare!
  15. I think that is the issue. I don't have a lid, I have a soft top but the chip piles up at the headboard and then it's all over, even if I can see the bed the rest of the way. Maybe I'll try and tip with it up for a bit so it's more ballanced
  16. I was thinking of swapping the oil out first and give it a fresh set @Khriss I take it the Allen key is the pressure adjust? I don't know where or how I would put a 4/5 stage in this tbh
  17. I'm wondering about pricing. I'll check the pressures first but I wonder if there's an easy way to fit an assister ram in line with the scissor to get it up maybe 1-2ft as it seems to only be that first bit when the ram is practically flat as it has to overcome the leverage. That being said, I had a good load in it yesterday and it was fine. Same stuff as I shifted the other day (leylandii) which is heavy anyway. Makes me wonder weather it is the pump or the valve and it hasn't been used in a long time before I bought it as it seems to be getting better 🤷🏼‍♂️ I want to get a bit cut off the bed and a tool box put in anyway. I think moving the load back 2-3ft and maybe getting a lighter "headboard" made might make a difference. The chipper blows the load right to the front and I think it's too much for the measly tipper!
  18. A reach around is no longer payment with covid 😂
  19. I'll have a look at the px like you say. I have emailed ingimex asking for a data sheet/manual for the tipper so I know what the max pressure is then I'll pump it up!
  20. Yea 100% it was more than it should tip yesterday but a load of wood chip up to the drop sides (12") it wouldn't tip. I handballed nearly all of it out before it would go!
  21. Maybe it's an issue with the system then? The pump runs and it tries to lift and then I think an overpressure valve kicks in and it won't tip but the pump runs on. It's a 2016 transit single cab with a full length ingimex bed. Here's a photo of a sprinter with the same bed. Maybe I'll get a spec sheet from them for pressures and get a pressure guage!
  22. Has anyone ever converted a scissor ram to a proper ram? I spent ages finding the right van and the only crap bit is the scissor type ram. It barely tips with chip up to the drop sides let alone with hoarder boards! It's an ingimex bed if that helps!
  23. Hate the bleeding things after today. Attacked me up a leylandii, ran up my back and jumped on my helmet!
  24. I have them fitted about an inch below the knee but I have bruising half way up my shin. I'm sure it's 50/50 bad fit and technique but I found the distels so much more comfortable. I'm not sure about the "click" ones as I like to really wrench in the foot loops and I can't see me being able to clip those in tight enough? Maybe I'll order the velcro/leather with American (pole) gaffs and see how I get on!
  25. To be fair, the only time I really gaffed out was using them with pole gaffs on a turkey oak and some western hemlock. I appreciate what you're saying though and I doubt my technique is perfect! 😂 My main issue with them is the pad has rubbed the crap out of my leg, mainly due to me not getting the foot strap tight enough but also because the pad is quite thin. It rubbed one side raw and bruised the other where the pad sits. I wanted to go for the bigger, more comfortable pads but they're about £150 delivered which seems excessive! I don't mind the length of the long gaffs, I just find that even if I gently step into them they bury themselves so deep in the tree that I have to give it a wiggle on each step. I've used distel geckos before and liked them but it was up a beech with short gaffs so I was wondering about the best "all rounders" were. I quite liked the look of the euro spikes because they look like they wouldn't bury themselves so deep?
