  1. Areal tree pruning - Passed!
  2. Decisions, decisions, decisions.....
  3. I work very hard- and you are right.
  4. 20ft doesn't kill you. Breaks bones etc, depending on how you fall but if you don't land on your head 20ft is not high enough unless you get unlucky. Fell 25ft and landed on feet and blew out l2 but I'm still here. I'd guess 30ft is the 99.9% death zone
  5. Man i don't want to tempt fate but I really love this. I don't want to die of course but I love it. I'm so glad I pulled the trigger. getting unlucky and dying happy is better than living a long humdrum existence in my humble opinion.
  6. Maslow's hierarchy of need... Shelter, food and water, love - then everything else you can lay your grubby mitts on ?
  7. Picking it up Friday!! I ummed and ahhed. In the end sometimes you gotta say "f**k it"
  8. Chainsaw from rope and harness - PASSED!
  9. I can see these as being a prettier solution for those who want the look of a timber fence but with a low visual impact durability that doesn't involve bolting a repair spur to a post. Question is how strong are they? What's their lifespan. They look like painted steel... Knowing what I know I would want 2 of these bolted either side of a post for a 200cm height fence that is subject to windy conditions and that gets EXPENSIVE, that is even if they work. Far cheaper to get some thick angle iron and cut it into 3ft lengths and drill holes for coach screws and bolt 2 to each timber post IMHO.
  10. I doubt it honestly. And 17 is way too expensive. I can get a spur for £7
  11. A van of that spec new inc vat is nearer 400 per month approx with 2k deposit and I'll never own it. The one above is 500 per month px shitty smart car as deposit and I'll own it in 5 years and probably still keep it. I like to buy things nearly new and look after them and keep them. I'm also currently not VAT registered and I wont be for about 6 more months cos I'm doing work on the house.
  12. I'm guessing this bolts to the rotted post above ground and spike gets concreted in at approx 6 inch clearance from the base of the post? How much do they cost?
  13. it's a year old with 6k on the mileage. No work done on it. 30k God it's sexy though. Auto too 3.2 litre
  14. Yeah perhaps too nice.... Mrs is talking me out of it. Reckons to wait 6 months. I'm booked till winter though already so I'm sooo damn tempted. My second vehicle is a smart car lol. I get bullied!!
  15. i'm 50/50 on buying this
  16. You're statement matches my research. Thanks
  17. Not paying a huge amount of tax this year due to spending a lot on my business. However, I'm seriously considering pulling the trigger on another 50k worth of capital expenditure. Will this carry on to next year so I wont pay tax then either, or at least very little. Or will it just cancel out all tax for this year and come April next year I start at zero again regarding profit? Thanks
  18. How did you find it. I found climbing easy ish. Trusting equipment not so much. Nots are not great. Shit visual memory but I got there... Lot to learn. A LOT!!!!!
  19. Bloody well done mate. What made you go for this in your 50s?
  20. I do have a very long ladder though but there must be a way of getting a line up and fixing a cambium saver to it so it can be pulled to the branch you need to get to right?
  21. It aint happening for a while. I got on the port last night. What's wrong with a throw bag and a long line and zigzag ascender though? That tree is getting done!
  22. You're in the wrong job. You painted a damn good picture.
  23. Found a place. 20ft x 40ft. Smack in the middle of 2 x 40ft containers. He's gonna let me build my own canopy and put in a ground anchor or 2. I said all that is built is his in the even of my death of bankruptcy. Is 40ft x 20ft gonna be big enough though that is the question. It will have to do but damn it's gonna be tight I reckon....
