If you want honest brutal and knowledgeable advice from some of the most experienced people in the industry then it’s a lot of the guys on this site. The wealth of wisdom on here unparalleled, it’s what got me into the industry and it’s where I did and still do get advice for all aspects of my business.
Honestly it’s made setting up a business so much easier for me. So I wouldn’t be too fast to knock them, they are being honest. And if I’m being honest (I do more than one trade) tree work can be simply ****************ing brutal. There are weeks/months where every day you leave nothing left in your body in and end up hanging to a pint like it’s the holy grail. And if you don’t work yourself 100% you’re not worth having.
what I’m trying to say is this industry isn’t cut out for the majority of blokes, nothing about gender just strength and endurance (and maybe a bit tapped in the head) That’s what some of these guys are trying to say, they aren’t being crass or negative, you asked for advice, they gave it to you. Take that and prove yourself.
I don’t know how everyone else’s teams run but as a bit of advice, when you’re doing a trial day, don’t let them see you struggle, break a sweat, say your tired. It’s the first thing people comment on.
I personally will always be grateful for this site.
