  1. 100+ police officers are also hurt in these protests also. Some are also women. Why up tight about 1 lady police officer being hurt amongst so many? Checks nationality / religion of the offenders. So the Southport man admitted the offence, justice is done quickly without a trial. Manchester man didn't and so the police have to gather all the evidence to create a case to take to court so enable a win. Manchester police are gathering evidence which takes longer than "Did you do it?" "Yes" "OK, off to prison". Is that simple enough. Not much more to it than that, certainly no 2 tiers of policing. Southport man went out that evening to cause trouble, premeditated, Manchester man was flying home with his mum where I believe he squared up to someone giving his mum racist abuse and it kicked off from there, no premeditation.
  2. Still awaiting trial. Suspect they have a better lawyer who is doing a lot of delaying tactics. I wonder if the 30 previous offences for violence worked in the favour or against the Southport man?
  3. 2nd quote I read, think it was an article in the Telegraph - wrong computer last night so I didn't copy the link - along the lines of "2 tier policing has been invented by those pushing conspiracy theories"... I noted this in my mind because it came from the Telegraph or Express (If it was a left wing press, I would have passed over this as a part of their narrative - but it was from the 'right' of politics press)
  4. And yet, how many police officers have been hospitalised this week by the right wing protests? Curious post I got last night, from Southport Mosque that kicked this all off: "Press release from the Southport Mosque" (time line of events) "1. For two days prior to the attack, threatening notes and letters were received, which were reported to the police" ... 2 days prior to the events and a day before these girls were murdered...
  5. Seeing the graph "encounters" I assume means they have intercepted someone trying to cross into the US where they shouldn't. I read the graph then that the US Border patrols are working harder and doing more patrols under Biden, and under Trump were sat in their offices more often doing less?
  6. Is the warranty specific to you, some apply only to the original purchaser and can't be transferred. Both machines run and work as they should?
  7. Regardless of myself, I know our postman isn't.....
  8. More so than usual this week, the right wing press are usually at it but the rest have joined in
  9. Going back to rioting and stuff... anyone else thinks we are being played for fools by the press. Right wing press "The Muslims / Immigrants / Asylum seekers are out to get us" Left wing press "The Far right are out to get us" Right wing press "Look at that, the Muslims / immigrants / Asylum seekers have done something bad, defend yourselves (by attacking the police)" Left wing press "Errr... the 'British' are coming... better look to defend your mosque" Both: "Fight!" Police (caught in the middle) "Fuuuck!!" Southport grieving parents "WTF?" Wonder if we are being played for fools?
  10. Long term sort of average.
  11. Exactly, and even slimmer to be able to afford one too (max 2% interest rate in the bank, property prices at 7%... losing money if the cash sits in the bank... waiting....)
  12. I'd agree that the Daily Mail doesn't help here, the Telegraph is just as bad
  13. No the original event, nothing we can do about it - am sure there are reasons that will come to light why he picked that day and that dance school, murders happen in all sections of the community. Maybe we'll find out his reasoning one day. Likewise, rioting, never acceptable solution - and I think if you look back today, these riots are nothing to do with Southport, it is their name only - so why is society going in that direction, that is perhaps where we should be thinking. There are divisions being sown into society by the likes of Robinson and Farage, using immigration as the focal point and they are doing very nicely out of it... but make the focal point anything else I suspect the outcome could be the same, division in society and a fight for the cause.... my view being inequality and poverty with no path on how to escape it, then all you need to do is light the fuse and point in the (wrong) direction.
  14. Pretty much exactly the same story I am getting from mates in the area (though slightly more moderated, none have mentioned the death penalty yet) This thread can go around and around I think, semantics, who is rioting or fighting about what, whether religion or immigration or not is a part of this, but end of the day the story is a boy murdered 3 children - we can do our own fighting with ourselves but maybe not in their names? A couple of posts above, along the lines of "this happened, but is there a solution" - which might be a more productive use of our time?
  15. So how are the feelings in Southport about these riots? They are being done in the name of these 3 girls
  16. and as for the riots this week, perhaps Johnson, D can ask his workmate what the feelings are in Southport to them? Remembering your pal lived was it 2 streets away from the boy and knew the dance class? something like that - local knowledge that a lot here don't have.
  17. If you look at the videos online here, the actual trouble there was less than 30 people involved. Most of the crowd were there filming with their phones. 1 person has been charged so far with arson (burning the bus) and justice is starting it's process.
  18. I think the term mass casualty event has been mis understood, many of us not actually realising that it is quite a narrow definition. So if we accept that the term is not relevant here and perhaps "rioters hurting a lot of police officers" be better? To me it is an over reaction (massively) to a Christian School boy (Adding in the religion here, it is relevant when using his actions as a catalyst to attack a mosque) who by all accounts was a good quiet boy with few concerns about him going a bit murdery. For the boy, there is more to the story to come out, such as why he picked that group - it wasn't a random walking down the street, sees a dance school and thinks "that'll do".
  19. And where can you show us that it isn't? I forgot to check last night, but who mentioned 2 tier policing first in this? I wonder....
  20. So perhaps the term "mass casualty event " is very specific, how about the phrase "A lot of British Police Officers are being hurt by a lot of British rioters" - will that do? Smoke and mirrors I again. Making the news today and the news today is rioting stoked up by Tommy Robinson (from his nice comfy 5 star Cyprus hotel (where he ran away to avoid being arrested again)). Smoke and mirrors "a lot of (racist) White people rioting but look over there 30 Asians had one the other day too over a local issue... and no police officers were hurt" (actually in Leeds there were a few white lads getting into the action too). The narrative is always the same - White British people doing wrong are barely mentioned on this thread but as soon as anyone approaching middle eastern origin, or date I say it a Muslim then the long copy and paste posts appear. Why would that be?
  21. I didn't know this but apparently all the volcanos in the world combined produce only 1% of the CO2 that humans do - only quoting from the fact checking sites - so I reckon it is still worth doing our bit
  22. So that was another 11 police officers injured last night and the vicar of Sunderland had to stop them ripping up the gravestones to use as missiles. Still want to defend the rioters?
  23. If you can split it you will get more - and a better saw! I was doing a 'car boot full' a couple of years ago for the same at £20 for split softwoods (pine), went very quick - too cheap - for ash probably go £30 to £35 to get rid of it... but adds a hassle... but also most people able to collect will have a car, not everyone will have a van to collect in bulk.
  24. Not from tree climbing but if my feet are off the ground, anything that can fall is tied to me - helmet included (pencils on bits of string, cameras, spanners, everything). Seen plenty of helmets being chased across various sites when the wind picks up too - but I'd make a decision on that on the weather conditions
  25. I have never said that the law is not applied evenly, I'll have to go back through the thread to find out where the idea that we have apparent 2 tier policing came from.
