    Ragwort

I don't know about other areas, but in Sussex the verges are full of ragwort these days. That has only happened over the last few years as councils have stopped spraying, or at least cut back. It's not uncommon to see fields crammed full of the stuff and I happen to believe it's very toxic to horses, especially in hay. I always pull it up on my own land, but every year there are more seedlings as it spreads from unkempt land.
  2. This is a very atmospheric photo
  3. It might be worth speaking to an accountant about the financial implications of becoming a limited company. Not sure whether anyone else has mentioned this. It can sometimes save a lot of tax if you get paid in dividends.
  4. Depends whether you want to have cheques made out to your business name or you personally. The bank won't accept business cheques into a personal bank account. I'd really recommend taking credit cards - something like Stripe, which is very cheap and easy to use on a mobile. Advertise that you take them and you'll probably get more business too.
  5. I'd try to go upmarket, where people want a better job done rather than worrying so much about the price. Where are you located? It does depend on the area somewhat. Your image needs to start with your website and marketing materials. Give the impression of a quality company and target businesses too. In the medium-term you'll create a more profitable business, I'm sure. Hope that helps.
  6. Here's ours Horsham Tree Surgeons - Qualified Tree Surgery in Horsham, Crawley, Brighton, Worthing
  7. If you decide to keep trading under your own name, just be aware that there is another Ian Geddes, tree surgeon in San Francisco! What are the chances? So you need to differentiate yourself if you want to be found on search engines. Whatever you call your business, it may be best to get a domain name that includes something like "tree surgeon yourtown" or "treesurgery yourtown" as it makes it easier to get found on Google. Hope your expansion goes well.
