  1. Explain how to get a trailer rated to 4000kg without going the tacho and possibly o licence route, or exceeding the totall mass limits etc. That useless pick up of mine seems to do just fine towing a variety of trailers and has done since it left the dealers forecourt. The mill is bang on the legal limit. I’ve spent plenty of time behind the wheel of Solihull’s products in a variety of countries. I was stupid enough to buy an ex welsh water 110 hardtop once too in civvy street 😞 I soon realised the error of my ways.
  2. I tried that once not with a digger but a load of granite chips on a 16ft tru axle behind a patrol. The feeling of dread as I was escorted to a weighbridge knowing I was over wasn’t very pleasant.
  3. So yours has defender running gear ?? Where do you get the 4000kg rated trailers ?
  4. Awesome 🤩 Defender running gear ?? Where do I get one of these 4000kg trailers ??
  5. 4000KG towing capacity 🤔 Im genuinely pleased for you, make sure you hang onto it as you’ve got a very rare and special vehicle “ a reliable old Range Rover ” cheap to run and simple 👍.
  6. HMRC using a sledgehammer to crack a nut as usual. A good selling often very cost effective tool that benefits many users ( many of whom are hard working self employed types) in a multitude of ways. 🤷‍♂️utter greed nothing more.
  7. Your right it couldn’t as to achieve what you describe would require a modicum of reliability.
  8. Much of that I agree with J and if they did rhd rams with a big Cummins in I’d be at front of the queue. The crap part of this is we get the whole green agenda rammed down our throats especially up in Scotland yet the legislation may well end up with people running additional vehicles rather than making do with the work pick up. I’d like an Iveco 4x4 50c but absolutely stupid money. A mate of mine has just bought a brand new Toyota Land Cruiser crew cab pick up from a dealer down south who brings them from Australia,4.5v8 diesel, manual box absolute cracker of a truck I’d love one but £74k 🤮🤮🤮. Insane money.
  9. I’ve tried towing the previous mill I had J with sons 2.2transit 🤷‍♂️utterly useless and not even worth going off-road. 3.2 Ranger has 4wd tows 3.5t easily, I get in ok at 6ft 5”. Let’s face it J they don’t build them to suit me never mind your height. I didn’t even think about the tax implications or benefits when choosing mine. I needed 3.5t towing capacity 4wd and as much grunt as I could get in a rhd format. It’s just more and more red tape in the UK suffocating small businesses. I’m sure you will get some who welcome this as they disapprove of anyone getting a break of any sort in life. Truth is with Hmrc ( a massive unaccountable organisation that’s destroying lives and businesses on a daily basis) they will probably end up actually taking less revenue and doing more bad than good which is generally the case. You recall the investigation myself and a few others went through a few years back, the tax take off the 48 guys involved has plummeted post investigation ( myself included) as most are stopping before going super high or a good few are getting the 183 days out the country and now paying zero. A friend of mine runs a Navara, we were discussing the implications of this legislation the other day. He sends out a dive team often to inaccessible areas towing a trailer or small boat and often carrying the HSE legal min 5 man team in one vehicle. These pick ups are allocated to one employee who looks after it and tends to give a damn as he gets to take it home at the weekend. 🤷‍♂️utterly pointless legislation nothing more than greed and yet more taxation .
  10. lol I was thinking something along those lines too Andy but kept it to myself, I’m still not up to speed with all this LGTBQIA plus bollocks eh. I’ll take the compliment be it for me or the wood 🤣
  11. Got lucky with some Elm and Oak, all done on the little woodlands.
  12. Opinion | Labour's huge betrayal puts 100,000 energy jobs on the line WWW.PRESSANDJOURNAL.CO.UK If Labour wants to win power, the party needs to prove it can be trusted with our energy... Probably the most honest headline Ive seen for a long time.
  13. Steve Wright: Radio 2 presenter dies aged 69 WWW.BBC.CO.UK The DJ hosted programmes on the BBC for more than four decades, including his popular afternoon... Great DJ . On constantly in the van and many a laugh had at some of his characters.
  14. Type of timber ? What thickness and depth are you after ?.
  15. There wasn’t one Les, good resale value at the age and hrs it was on and it was an opportunity to put things in place after a period or using the old mill ie lessons learned. Part of me is still wondering if I did right thing bud, this one is the last one Les I tell you that. I’ll stick to playing with the little woodlands afterwards.
  16. Yeah 60KVA silent runner, probably could have got away with slightly smaller but it ticked away nicely all day and didn’t use a huge amount of fuel, probably less than the previous Honda petrol unit would have. As for cost yeah im trying to not think about it too much.
  17. First time out with the new mill, few bits of oak for a pal foc , basically a shakedown session for me and the mill to see how it goes. Few things to sort including trying to bring blade speed down a bit for big hardwoods, VFD being the preferred option and possibly move one or two of hydraulic tools. Fixed operator panel is taking a bit of getting the hang of rather than walking alongside the head, I missed being able to watch the blade on the feed side roller for any issues. One f—-k up on my part pushing too hard and ended up smoking the drive belts a touch, 25kw motor didn’t strain at all just asking too much of things I guess. The session confirmed my hatred of x cut tipped blades.
  18. 🤷‍♂️ Yep all related to carbon dioxide 😞that’s why we see a huge reduction in use of flights by those who are preaching to the masses about the perils of climate change. The latest save the world junket at Bletchley Park for example. If teams meetings and such like were adequate for the plebs during the covid farce why not for the never ending round of international gatherings we see every year. Often as not followed by proclamations regarding how we should behave.
  19. What can you say 🤷‍♂️day after day more and more evidence comes out that the response was, as a minority said at the time utterly wrong in so many ways. It was a period of utter and unforgivable insanity.
  20. Cheers there’s a lovely old redundant stenner set up in a derelict shed on an estate near me and a load of blades just being left to rot away.
  21. I think between £10-12 is what I was paying, not sure for other members. Just curious regarding the 7” body blade, what’s that running in ??.
  22. My experience with saw doctors has been mixed to say the least. Ended up buying sharpening and setting eqpt and have had far better results and blade longevity, using a variety of woodmizer sharpening wheels really showed what a mess the blades and hook angle were in after a few trips to my local saw doctor. As for tipped blades for some reason I’ve never got along with them but I know others love them, admittedly I never did sharpen any myself.
  23. Let’s see how this all pans out for Starmer. Labour MPs marching with these people 🤷‍♂️
  24. Not sure if the video will be taken down or allowed to run, it’s pretty grim stuff. How can anyone expect Isreal not to go all out after this. Hamas knew exactly what they were doing. Iran called the shots and destroyed the upcoming agreements between Israel and other Middle East nations. I watch the antics of the protesters in London recently and despair at the Mets pathetic approach. London and a number of other locations are borderline lost when it comes to law and order. What is interesting is Starmers predicament right now with pressure from within his own ranks. f4e97887-399c-4bfb-b2fd-ba4494f5d866.mp4
  25. Cheers yeah it’s a gamble at times. Im currently ( and have been for a while ) on the lookout for an Urban tractor unit preferably a Daf manual box model, I did see one down in Doncaster but was offshore at the time and couldn’t bring myself to go for it unseen.
