  1. Well it’s BT Dons bit of kit so it’s his call at the end of the day.
  2. Yeah that part is easy replaceable. Yes plant is repaired all over the country every day. Codes are good to have but not essential it’s the test methodology after the weld is completed that will count and the subsequent cert to say it’s fine these are the min that will maintain LOLER compliance. End of the day it was a suggestion at the end of the post about something worth bearing in mind. As a few have said sure it could be stuck together no probs by joe average stick guru on site, (I’ve done plenty of get me home repairs myself) But as an employer that will not pass muster in the admittedly unlikely event anything ever goes wrong.
  3. Probs a reasonable way to look at it. As I said in first reply I’d get the part priced and also get a good welding outfit to price it and take it from there. LOLER compliance and inspection of a defect, repair or modification etc is the way it is nowadays and unavoidable or so I thought.
  4. Well the statement about not being in a workshop is a bold one to make, as is the comment ref LOLER compliance within the Arb industry. I’m more than happy to post images of the fab work ive undertaken, none of which has ever failed its MPI/Eddy current test either pre or post SWL testing. Anyway I’m not gonna get into a cock fight over welding prowess, although I would recommend cast steel being heated and allowed to cool in a controlled manner for best least brittle end result. As I said it was what I thought a point worth thinking of if you have employees using bits of kit etc etc not a ffs nuts reply moment.
  5. OK no probs for starters it’s a lifting appliance. Be it a skid steer loader or a 1000t crane. There is no way that can be properly welded in half an hour by a decent ag mechanic that I can assure you. How was the reply nuts may I ask ?? It was tagged on at the end of the post as a point worth thinking of not an outright instruction of what to do or not. Rightly or wrongly even for Arb work this is the world we live in you do RAMS you get kit tested including I’m sure the loader in question etc etc this all seems like a pain in the arse until something happens.
  6. Cast steel can be welded but will probs need heat and controlled cooling so part will need to come off to do it right. More than likely if it’s gonna fail again it will be at point of repair. Id be looking at replacement part cost as first option and getting a quote from a really switched on fabrication/welding outfit as second . If they reckon it can be done in ten mins etc etc walk away. One thing worth thinking of is seeing as you’d in effect be modifying a lifting appliance is what would be the worst case scenario if it failed again whilst in use ??.
  7. Well I can’t comment on longevity just yet but with a 3 yr warranty from a crowd the size of screwfix hopefully it will work itself out one way or another. triple blade set up on the drum held in by multiple grub screws, Not sure as of yet regards replacing them etc. As I said up to now I’m impressed, quiet, reasonably light and it seems quite powerful in use and leaves a very good finish. Just under £230 good reviews and a cracking warranty. If I get any grief with it I’ll put it straight on the forum but yeah bearing in mind the above caveat ref longevity I’d say yes why not ?
  8. Yeah it does come with a band fitted for sure but I found that changing to Ripper37s necessitated resetting the tensioning wheel to hit the sweet spot ie good alignment at the correct torque setting. It’s easy enough now but the first time it did my head in big time. If you know anyone local who has the same mill I’d see if they will give you a rundown. Not seen the newer models that may have something factory fitted, but I also made an adjuster to help align the motor if tensioning the drive belt.
  9. Took a chance on something other than one of the big name brands few days back and bought a Triton 180mm planer to dress up some recently milled 5 & 6 inch beams. Screwfix job and 3 yr warranty so if no good it will be heading back. Saves using the 300mm makita planer on narrow beams and is half the weight. Initial impressions are very good, quiet and leaves a decent finish.
  10. Nice to see integration, diversity and tolerance working fine in France. The one plus is the fact the French police put enough rounds Into the killer to make sure he won’t draw another breath in this world.
  11. Don’t waste your time ?‍♂️ Stu obviously gets off on being in his eyes the biggest bahco shifter on here. The only thing I can equate it too is having an argument with the mrs when she is pissed. Totally futile and doesn’t matter what you say it will be wrong.
  12. Commando I’d strongly recommend not even bothering to get into that with Stu, it’s not a case of giving up as he slyly puts it ( knowing we took the conversation offline yesterday) or running out of points to debate but more a realisation it will just frustrate you in the end. I took my debate offline with Stu so I could send him images of a crew list that proved the nationality of some of them. Both guys are friends etc, it was done offline in respect to their privacy. I gave him a run down of my job role and responsibilities plus the areas I’ve worked etc etc. The bullshit online between us was at that point over as I understood it. The timeline of subsequent posts by Stu obviously proved me wrong. The urge to get the last word or make a sly comment is obviously overwhelming within him as he still felt the need to bang another post up with yet another dig at me being unwittingly racist or intolerant or as in this morning of “giving up”etc. Best thing you can do is not get drawn into replying to those long long well written but in the end not really relevant posts written by someone whom displayed zero integrity and if I had to hazard a guess probs ain’t been around or seen that much of the world and it’s people. It’s a game with him do not fall for it, I was advised to do the same by another member on here, I should have listened. Alternatively you can tie him up with one liners that his compulsion to reply to will not let him ignore. ?
  13. You can ask me in person, I’ll catch up with you in newbigging when I’m down the road. Coffee no alcohol.
  14. Ok you have the Chair from here on in Stu ? but and this is my final word to you on this you are I’m afraid to tell you 100% categorically as wrong as it’s possible to be in what you think you perceived about my views on certain matters. It is blatantly obvious I’m not gonna convince you otherwise for reasons known only to you, hence Ive stopped trying. Those whom know and work with me know who and what I am, you do not. As far as I’m aware these are open forums.
  15. ?‍♂️? That’s my hand bag ? in the ring bud. You’ve beaten me, I give in you win etc etc. People like them ?? No Stu it’s people like you are as much the problem as those you seem to look down on or judge. I do not need a defence as there is no offence it’s all in your head. Like I say you win ok others are as bored with this as I’m sure you and I are. You have views i have views. I know how I behave to all different groups and races etc etc you have a perception based upon your views on how I behave. We are not gonna agree so let’s let it go. I’m sure you have heard this before but as Mark J would say you are doing my napper in.
  16. OMG ? that’s funny Stu I Even have a gay friend ??. More than one actually and I’ve seen Erasure live ? how diverse is that. Not quite sure what you think is going on whilst offshore or on a vessel but I think you might be disappointed in the reality of it. Saying that Andy is in the Norwegian sector and there’s a lot more women offshore there. Maybe it’s like that there ?‍♂️.
  17. He came across abbot did he not, thats guts in my book ?
  18. Equality is fine but spreading the wealth too often ends up in reality taking off those whom work hard to give to those who won’t. Getting back to a manufacturing and skills based economy is a start id say I like others on here don’t have all the answers I’m afraid.
  19. I’m in lynemouth soon, I’ve a half brother and a lot of mates I’m catching up with in NBS, I’d have caught up for a socially distance brew then you could make your own mind up if I’m the non pc tory you think I am. Business wise , just curious really to see what sort of stuff people do. Like when I told K my role offshore.
  20. I truly hope he doesn’t give ground on the state aid issue if I have to explain to you why then you are indeed blinded by boris. As for fishing rights what the EU ie France and Spain are asking for is a total joke. Currently Mark we are goosed being tied to EU, on your doorstep out of Blyth Dogger Bank windfarm etc how much of that is coming to the local economy ??? Nothing we can do about it under current EU regs . The famous windfarm that pissed trump off up off the coast of his golf course, at its peak 500 involved in its construction, 10 of which were Scottish, that’s a published fact again zero we can do about it under current regs. We both agree change is required is it not ??? You think by going hard left it will work I think better to adopt a hard nationalistic approach ie UK industry and workers first ?‍♂️?‍♂️I’m sure you will disagree.
  21. Aye mate marra like right wing commentators lol ? Just curious Mark what’s your company called ??. Whom got booted out ?? Quite frankly it’s a shame you think along those lines, the trend to oft quoted the other forms of employment some take on here rather than pure Arb shall I say I’d like a child not wanting certain people at a party. Me joining the forum coincided more with a return to milling and timber framing and the desire to improve my knowledge than the political scenario.
  22. Very very poor and quite frankly ignorant reply, why on earth would I lie about the make up of a project team. The 3 x 3.4 inspection coordinators I quoted ie Vijay (Indian) Ahmed (Egyptian) and George (Nigerian) would be in hysterics at me asking to have a selfie to prove that I’m not some racist intolerant bigot. We don’t tend to get massive group pics with ID on to indicate race and religion. So in your eyes if I think something is politically correct to the point of ridiculousness then I have an issue ?‍♂️?‍♂️?‍♂️?‍♂️?‍♂️If that’s the case millions of everyday working class people the UK have an issue With ludicrous ott pc and that includes many different races not just white. Ps Next time a client forks out the tens of thousands of pounds required to mobilise a crew and cover flights and quarantine/testing etc I’ll take a pic of the crew list and post it in the meantime you will just have to cling to the shred of hope that I’m lying.
  23. When have I said that what’s on TV annoys me ?? It’s ott Political correctness that was I believe the subject matter. Once again you mention my non tree type income source. I’d say that you are borderline discriminatory here. Diluted the forum ? there are several other parts of the forum you can use that are exclusively Arb related ???. You do see the irony of the points you are making about people’s opinions and then non Arb types etc etc I hope. Right wing ??? not sure where you get that from.
