  1. I bring the 394 out 2 or 3 times per month. Its a solid reliable saw, great for ringing up with a 28'' bar. It was a bargain buy about 7 years ago,£450 for a saw that had only been used to fell and clear up one tree! the owner then retired and stored it away until I heard about it. It's still on the original bar and the only parts renewed have been clutch springs. I will give it to my son when I retire !
  2. Update ; If my price is accepted for the dismantles, a local chainsaw carver is going to pay the householder for the Sequoia, after I get them down on to the floor in suitable lengths. At the moment no one wants the Corsican, so when felled it will probably stay on site as fire wood for the owner.
  3. Hi, I have been asked to price the removal of 2 Sequoia and one Corsican pine. The owners want to keep the smaller Corsican timber ( under 1 M ) for logs and to keep the total cost of the job down by me taking the remaining timber as part payment. The 25-30 M Corsican is to be sectional felled down to 10 M. The 10 M stick can be felled and this measures 1.2 M diameter tapering to 1 M. Both Sequoia are about 18 M tall, the fat one has a dbh of about 2.5 M , tapers quickly and is badly fire damaged at the base on one side. The second one has a dbh of 1.2 M with a very gradual taper. The timber will be roadside with a big forklift on site. If anyone wants to make me an offer, please p m me. Transplanted.
  4. The small black vertical handle rear left is the release for the tipper. If you search on you tube there are quite a few videos of them in use. The petrol 300 kg has a retail list price of £4,450.00 + VAT, although dealers may discount this.
  5. The machine in my avatar is a truxta, a very versatile little machine for pushing, pulling and carrying materials or attachments. They can carry 300 or 450 kg depending on model and have 3 power options, petrol, diesel or electric (24V battery). I currently have two 300kg petrol models and being only 72 cm wide we use them a lot for 'back garden' work getting logs and bigger chogs to roadside. I have dragged piles of brash with them too, but I intend to make a swan-neck brash cart, although I will have to walk backwards to operate this. They are very easy to use and because they articulate they do not 'scrub' on lawns and being hydrostatic and 4WD they grip well. I have several of the available attachments and also a 20 hp stump grinder attachment which is prototype under development by a third party.(Watch this space ) A few hire companies own truxta's, so you can hire and try one for a day. Go to Tufftruk ? TRUXTA Powered Mini Dumpers for more information and contact details for dealers. Transplanted.
  6. In reply to Hamdog's question, the machine in my avatar is a Truxta; a walk behind 4 wheel drive powered barrow/ mini-dumper. I will start a new thread about them later today. Transplanted.
  7. Thanks for the replies everyone, its nice to be reassured by knowledgeable people. Transplanted
  8. My notification to fell 3 cherry trees in a conservation area for a client has been deemed invalid as the council '' require proposals for re-planting or reasons for not wanting to re-plant''. They have highlighted part of question 7 on the forms. My take on this is that the sentence begins with ''Where trees are protected by a TPO'' so the second half of the sentence (highlighted part) can only be referring to TPO trees as well: and not trees in a conservation area. Am I reading this right or wrong? are the council correct to ask about replacements or otherwise? Whatever its a badly worded question, awaiting replies with interest ! Transplanted. Albany House.pdf
  9. On our ranger and mazda's, the vacuum pipe failure caused this sort of problem. The hubs are engaged/ disengaged by a system of mechanics, electrics and vacuum pipes. The vacuum switches are next to the brake master cylinder, probably one blue and one white on top. Check that the vacuum pipes are attached and intact here and then the rest of their lengths. You may need to check the wiring too. Good luck.
  10. Give Hexhamshire Hardwoods a call ; 01434673528, speak to Richard, he may be able to supply what you require. They are located 4 miles south of Hexham.
  11. I bought our Avant Multi plus ( older version of a 520 I think )eight year ago and its been used every week since. The larger articulating machines make less mess on grass especially when running turf tyres. They are great machines for tree work in gardens and confined spaces. I wish I could afford to own two of them, one to load on sites , one at home to unload or stack and do yard duties.
  12. I use my Truxta for moving logs etc. It has a flat bed with poles for lengths of timber / rings and the dumper top for wood chip, gravel and other loose material such as rubble. It is 0.72 M wide and articulates so that it does not scrub on lawns. The lads were sceptical at first, but now its a fight to see who gets to use it. This morning I confirmed my order for a snow plough attachment and paid for the tow-ball attachment. I intent to make a small forwarding trailer ( for brash ) for those long drags out of back gardens, the only problem I can see is that we will have to walk back-wards when it is loaded.
  13. Ron Tuplin was the guy responsible for the wiring harness of the GBT 367 chipper, when he worked for Parkinsons Electrical Harnesses of Boston. He is retired now, but you might get him on this number (07951313782 ) If this does not work try Parkinsons. Nick Townsend from RDS is the guy to speak to regarding the computer on BEL ( Bingham) chippers; office no. 01453733331. I have one of each of these chippers and they are usually easy to fix! Binghams were bought out and are now Cardley Bingham.who dont do tow-behind chippers. Grev Bray is now Sales Manager for Truxta and as you can see I have one of these too. This week I have ordered some attachments for the Truxta, which I will unveil in the near future
  14. I often put some in the local auction mart collective sale. I usually enter several pallets, some mixed species, some single species. Just a single layer, strapped down to give a nice display. Always make £25 - £50 each pallet. Much better than firewood prices and no hassle
