  1. No, no, you don't and if you have you're absolutely not selling it
  2. Not an option unfortunately, it's a case of yay or nay, I was warned that some sites were tougher than others but I suppose it's a bit like treework in general, just different grades of tough
  3. Here's my set up, There was a thread about how the vizir worked with different ear defenders, http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/climbers-talk/103007-petzl-vizir-peltor-problem.html In the end the vizir worked regardless of what ear defenders you have.
  4. Only if it's raining, sawdust gets stuck on it but I wear mine in addition to the mesh vizor so I can push the vizir up and just use the mesh, both operate independently.
  5. Good to know, better start saving, no more vintage saws for me apart from a Pro Mac 10-10 ;-)
  6. 1500?? thats a lot of spade work. So a tough way to earn then, just as tough as it sounds.
  7. First off I don't own a pick-up but I'd like one and probably need one but just can't afford it at present. I had it narrowed down to 3, Nissan Navarra, like the look Ford Ranger, always been a Ford man, current vehicle is my 1st non Ford ever Toyota Hilux, reputation I read to many negatives about the Navarra from engine problems to gearboxes getting stuck in Low to chassis problems. Ruled the Navarra out Also read too many bad reports about the Ranger, axles, diff's, brakes, etc Ruled the Ranger out The only negatives I've ever read about a Hilux is that they're overpriced compared to the rest and that they're maybe not as car-like to drive as some of the others. The question is are they really overpriced or are you paying for the reliability? seems 300K miles is not out of the question and on the road manners issue my primary need is off-road and towing ability. Now just to be absolutely clear I have no actual experience of any of them so maybe I shouldn't comment, the other way of looking at it is that I'm not affected by owner bias. Also I don't doubt that there are loads of Navarras and Rangers that have been problem free and plenty of Hiluxs that have given trouble, be that as it may. I'll have a Hilux or I won't have a pick-up at all.
  8. Hi folks, anyone on here done re-planting on a Forestry Commission harvested site, I might have the opportunity for a bit of work but it sounds pretty brutal, hand planting 1200 approx trees per day which is shifting on I'd have thought. If you've done it what was it like, as brutal as it sounds, works out at about 2 1/2 trees per minute on an 8 hour day!!!
  9. Good for you for posting, Looks nasty, get well soon
  10. Just to be clear, the saw isn't for sale, it belongs to the estate I've been working at recently. I was looking at it in the workshop yesterday evening while chatting to the bloke that used to do all the saw work, liked the look of it, fired it up but as yet haven't had a chance to try it. Nice looking saw, kinda old school.
  11. Gobsmacked!!! like a knife through butter. I'm having a go on the stock one tomorrow, one way or another
  12. I doubt any of that would be an issue for me as it would be unlikely to get much use, good to know what parts to have on hand though. I need to think of an excuse to try it tomorrow although as I'm clearing windblown spruce justifying borrowing their 90cc saw with a 28" bar isn't going to be easy p.s is that it in your avatar pic?
  13. Funny you should mention the air box clips, a couple are broken on the one I was looking at but I dare say it hasn't done much work as they also have a 576XP which I have used, really liked it although only used it for a few days. In any case it isn't for sale.
  14. That's nice but pricey, I see it has the original bar, there was a CST-610 twin cylinder on ebay a couple of weeks ago, sold for over £300 IIRC.
  15. Cheers Matty, any issues? not that it would affect me as it wouldn't be used very often. If it can run 36" It would be the biggest saw I'm ever likely to need.
  16. Do you means the gold rings that can be opened? can you use them for a lanyard? I intend to get a Sequoia SRT (SRT as I prefer the waist adjustment which is like the Avaho) as soon as I have a bit of spare cash (Christmas Present perhaps) I had the Avaho Sit Fast which was really comfortable for me but didn't have a floating bridge.
  17. As above, I was at an estate today and they have one, didn't get a chance to try it but might before the end of the week. It has a 28" bar on, anyone on here use one, what's your opinion, pros/cons, largest bar you've had on it etc. Thanks
  18. Have you considered wearing ear buds or whatever they're called instead of the helmet mounted ear defenders? Sympathise with you getting hit in the eye, my eyes seem to be chip magnets too, was looking at an overgrown laurel hedge yesterday that the owner wanted quoted for and managed to poke myself in the eye with a damn leaf
  19. Have you considering changing the filing angle on the cutters to make it less aggressive?
  20. Oregon is all I use, not because I think they're better/cheaper or anything like that, just easy to get hold of, I haven't used anything else and they seem just fine to me I bought 2 Rotatech but waiting until my current chain is worn out before I try them. Regarding the cut with Oregon, I find it a little aggressive on the 360 especially for a finishing/pruning cut, needs a bit of care but will probably be less aggressive once I've 'sharpened' it a few more times.
  21. There was one reported fatality recently where, as far as I remember the bridge had been replaced with cordage unsuitable for the application. Maybe someone with a better memory can add the details edit This is the story I was thinking of. http://www.treemagineers.com/blog/customising-ppe/
  22. http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/general-chat/93662-echo-machines-do-you-use-12.html#post1432764
  23. That's an interesting looking chipper, a completely different design to all the other small 13-16hp chippers from the more expensive Greenmech CS100 and Jo Beau M200/300 models to the low cost options from Agrieuro/MDL/Rock Machinery etc. Good price too
  24. Just noticed that the pics I'd posted to illustrate things aren't visible, I must have put them in another album so I'll post them again for clarity. Sorry bout that.
