  1. Cheers, no spark at present, checked the points and they seem ok, going to check the wiring tomorrow, failing that I'll have to find out how to check the magneto.
  2. A Danarm DD8F mk3A that hasn't been started in a long, long time, I've never seen it running. Turns over ok on the recoil starter so will check for spark and if that's ok I'll fuel it up (12-1!!!) and see what happens. If I can get it to even fire I'll strip and service it. Some old school fixes present, a bit of wood for the starter handle and a length of what looks the inner wire from a piece of twin & earth with no plug cap for an H/T lead.
  3. My saws, the oldest was my fathers, an Echo CS-701S VL, the manual says 1975 so about 40 years old and still going strong. The newest is the Echo CS-360 TES, bought it recently after passing my CS38 &CS39. The Husky 137E was the first saw I bought, it got me through CS30 & CS31, the Echo CS450 ES was bought after passing CS30 & CS31. I also have a Pioneer, 60D IIRC.
  4. No worries, I appreciate the help and it kinda confirmed what I was thinking of doing.
  5. I had been experimenting with a DMM Revolver on my harness and running my climbing line through that and up to an Ultra O on the hitch climber pulley and had started clipping the Ultra O to the Revolver after removing the climbing line. The O Rig has plenty of advantages but at the cost of adding a few more steps when it comes to advancing the rope (compared to a basic prusik/split tail) Definitely one to get perfected. What do you reckon on running through the Revolver? less friction or more complication?
  6. LOL, no worries I wouldn't work unattached, I'd definitely clip in on my lanyard before advancing my climbing rope but just didn't want to risk dropping it having been using a prusik/split tail where the climbing line always has one point of attachment to the harness. I tried the basic hitch climber set-up but wasn't keen on it TBH, I really prefer the 'O' Rig so I'll work on it low & slow.
  7. Cheers, either opition sounds like a plan, leaning towards cord/accessory Krab but will give both a try.
  8. Sorry but I can't visualise how that would work on an 'O' Rig system using a hitch climber pulley
  9. Hi folks a newbie here with what is probably a stupid question but...... Just recently passed CS38/39 but not currently employed, had a chance to try out the 'O' rig and have just been practicing setting it up but haven't actually climbed on it yet. The question is, if I remove the spliced eye on the working end of my climbing line from the karabiner attached to the hitch climber to advance the rope my climbing system is no longer attached to my harness unlike when I use a basic prusik. I'm a bit concerned about dropping the climbing rope at this point. Any suggestions apart from not dropping the rope?
  10. Thanks, I'll check out the Husky ones next time, I managed to get the Sordins to fit, just needed to trim about 1mm off the slot on the helmet where the retaining clip of the Sordins should catch, they stay clipped in just fine now. I guess if I'd really forced them I could have got them pushed into the helmet slots the extra 1mm that they needed. All sorted now anyway, thanks guys
  11. Hi thanks for that, just looked at the Husqvarna ear defenders but they look like MSA Sordins and for some reason they don't clip into place properly on my helmet, it looks like the part that goes in the helmet slot is too short to allow the ear defenders to clip into place. When I flip up the visor the ear defenders rise up out of the helmet slots, I figured they should stay in place. Not sure why this should be
  12. Hi folks, new here so hopefully this is the correct forum for this question. I've bought a Petzl Vertex Best which I'm pretty happy with, I needed ear defenders and bought a set of MSA Sordins EXC and compatible visor but the Sordins don't actually clip into the helmet, they fit but raising the visor makes the ear defenders slip up out of the helmet slots. I then bought a set of Peltor X1's which are locked into the helmet so well that I can't get them out, also had to buy a Peltor (Stihl Branded) compatible visor but it's quite short, has a plastic mesh and sits awfully far out from the helmet. I'm not particularly happy with either set up, has anyone any suggestions on alternatives or a method to get the Sordins to actually clip in place like I imagine they should. Thanks in advance.
