  1. Morning all, Late for parade. Set the lads on local hedge job, letting the knee have a gentle day today as bigger job later in the week. I'll take the little tractor along later to move the heavy brash bags up the hill for them!
  2. My Jensen A540 turntable chipper has an overrun/freewheel coupling so that when you turn off the engine the chipping flywheel continues to turn and slow down until stopped. I have not come across any other chippers with an overrun/freewheel before. Can anyone shed light on why Jensen fit this? Also, it is quite a while since I last changed the oil in the freewheel (due to low hours use, not neglect), that I cannot remember exactly what you do to drain the old oil out. I can't find anything online about it, does anybody have the answer? I seem to remember you have to position the freewheel correctly then undo some of the countersunk bolts on the front of it?
  3. Morning all, Dry and frost free here. Odds and sods to do today.
  4. I have the Stihl MS161T and I like it. Easier decision to make if you already have the battery system for other tools. Nice for pruning and early stage of dismantles. I have even sectioned down an eight inch ash stem with it. Light enough for an older, weaker operator like me to reach out one handedly if necessary. My Echo 2511T beats it hands down for power and power to weight ratio.
  5. Morning all, Quiet day for me today, then full steam ahead resumes tomorrow.
  6. Morning all, Quick local quote then go and see my sister and look at ways of reducing her flood risk. She's been flooded twice now.
  7. No such luck, just a Jensen A540 turntable version. Still a good bit of kit though. Just finished doing the sump.
  8. Morning all, Right hand man back next Monday and we return to full steam ahead. Trying a longer wife and dog walk this morning, hopefully find time to put the new sump onto Jensen over the w/e. Have fun, be safe.
  9. Morning all, Was in such as rush to get out and beat the traffic I forgot to sign in. Another senior moment.
  10. Morning all, Sunny day ahead with 10 degrees. Enjoy
  11. Morning all, All thawed out now. Quoting this morning, maybe spannering in afternoon if parts arrive. Pleased to say aorta screening scan all normal. For Doug's edification I can confirm it was a transabdominal ultrasound, but if you're lucky by the time you get yours they may have decided transrectal scanning gets them nearer the aorta!
  12. Morning, Due for 5 degrees here today and 10 degrees tomorrow. Whoopee. Van in for MOT/service then tractor wheels in for new tyres, then ultrasound screening for aortic aneurysm. Then do a quote for a nice and regular local customer. That'll do for me today.
  13. Morning all, Hopefully the day of icy conditions for a bit. Stay warm
  14. Morning all, Still icy. Couple of quotes this morning then back inside and light the stove. Roll on next week’s thaw.
  15. Morning all, Hospital appointment, hopefully get discharged after knee op. Making bif efforts not to slip on ice and undo all the good. Stay safe.
  16. Morning all, Snowing again here. Getting boring now.
  17. Morning all, Just a bit of pottering for me today. Keep warm
  18. Morning all, Snow overnight again here. Hopefully get the rear 4 wheels off the van and take them in to have the new tyres fitted. Excellent local tyre guys are up a crowded town street with parking on both sides. Don't fancy trying to get unladen rwd motor along there. Sorry to hear of your garage water woes PeteB. Stay safe all.
  19. I just think he looks too much like a cyborg. Don't know what planet he came from though.
  20. Morning all, Snow overnight and snowing here now. Taking Hilux in for its first service then back to sort kit for Loler. Thank goodness for infrared heaters in sheds.
  21. Morning all, A bit of snow here, nothing major. Taking son up to Manchester airport this morning. I’ll see what it’s like further afield.
  22. In addition, you can't beat keeping the diesel tank on the machine full, especially if it is a metal tank. limits how much condensation you get into the fuel.
  23. Interesting, never heard that before, but not arguing with you at all. Was told by many sources petrol was OK, and never had a problem. Is the issue that it can cause other problems beyond perhaps not preventing waxing?
  24. I added 5% petrol to my diesel in winter until I gave up buying red, due to local supplier giving up on it.
  25. Morning all, Nice and frosty. Stay warm.
