  1. Apparently it took 40 million years for a fungus to evolve which could degrade wood? Something around that figure i was told once.
  2. In regards to the chondrostereum how often does the colonization lead to death of the tree? Seen a few trees heavily in decline with it present. Wondered if it primarily colonised already stressed trees.
  3. Worked on a tree not too long ago, had a member from the local council come out and force us to close the footpath completely rather than monitoring the foootfall.
  4. Hi, I am just inquiring as to whether anyone has a copy of Arb Magazine (issue 163, winter 2013)? Or if there is a digital place online where I can find it? This is because I am looking for mattheck's observations on branch and co-dominant stem attachments in relation to dr Duncan slater and alex shigos work. Thanks very much guys.

  17. i think its best to think of it like this when you first treework the risk of accident is say 4% a random number i chose but over time with experience the risk of having one because of youre knowledge goes down to say 0.5% the way youre describing it sounds like a clock almost as if you start at 4% risk of accident and everyday it goes up 0.1% till 100% and then resets. hope this help y'all bickering over nothing. 21. Hi guys! I need youre help again went for a walk and found a few i was unsure on First two were found on the same beech presume one to be more fresh than the other type of ganoderma? The third was found at the base of a very very large oak had about four clusters of it all well past maturity rootplate seemed to have alot more reactionary wood on tue side with the fungus. I thought maybe grifola frondosa? fourth one was found on the tip of a piece of deadwood on a douglas fir. Absolutely boggled me. Found on a beech any idea what species of Ganoderma? the most coolest mushroom ive found yet and cant find any trace of what it might be even my mushroom book any idea? once again thank you very much!
