  1. We're doing dog tooth cuts tomorrow Paul Arb For Training based near Leyburn, North Yorks. http://www.arbfortraining.com
  2. You should've called in mate, there was plenty of coffee and biscuits on the go Does that golden rule apply to your arm too?
  3. Yeah, it's good! I'm actually enjoying being the person living closest to the training centre, for once. Usually I'm having to travel up to 4 hours a day for training whereas this time it's taking me 15 minutes I feel sorry for the other lads, one travelling from North of Newcastle (2 hours), one from Whitby (2 hours), and one from Bradford (1.5 hours), although he's staying over at a friends. I was first one there yesterday, landed about 8:20 and that was after doing a couple of my own jobs first. I was also last to leave
  4. It's going good It's actually a lot more in depth than I thought it would be. We're starting to fell trees this morning so that should be fun. At least the weather is better today, no wind. Then again, learning how to fell trees correctly with a little wind would be a good advantage and easy to learn.
  5. Oh right, that's not good... I'll bet it gives you a right wake up call in the big truck when the wind catches it! My little truck, being so light can be, erm, interesting...
  6. Excellent! I promise to try not break it Speaking of breaking things... You got your Land Rover sorted?
  7. As my assessment is now Tuesday I've signed up to do the chipper course on the Saturday. Looks like it's gonna be a busy week Better get some moles trapped to pay for everything :D
  8. I reckon I could just about manage that Good little tip is that mate!
  9. Will do Paul Proper looking forward to it! The assessment was originally scheduled for the Saturday after the course but it's now scheduled for the Tuesday after. Just hope I remember everything, I'll have slept 4 times since the course finishes on the Friday
  10. Haha! I know what you mean John... You had any calls for any trees down? Just been talking to my neighbour and he said there are plenty of branches laid around over Downholme way.
  11. Cheers Graham I'm hoping it'll be a little less windy
  12. Got my Chainsaw Maintenance, Cross Cutting, Felling & Processing up to 380mm (NPTC Level 2 Award) starting Monday To say I was looking forward to it would be an understatement! I'm doing my training through a local company Arb For Training (arbfortraining.com), can't wait!!
  13. You're not wrong! This was the start of the day here a couple of weeks ago
  14. You too Paul, and to everyone else out there!
  15. Thankfully I've never suffered with depression but my other half does. Initially she was really bad, self harming, etc. It got to the point where I was unable to leave the house and if I did she would be calling me begging me to return home. She wouldn't go to the doctors cos she thought no-one would believe her. It took me weeks to get her to go and the doctor was great! She still has bad days but the medication she's on really helps. Occasionally, for no reason she has what she calls it the impending doom which is where she feels really bad but then often as quick as it came on, it goes again. I also have a friend who suffers, he strangely calls it the impending doom too?.. He sent me the link to this video to explain a little as to how he sees his depression. My other half started studying Buddhism and chanting which she found really helpful for her. She's still on medication and will be for the rest of her life but she's in a much happier place now. This is the chanting she used to do. She'd sit for at least 30 minutes a day, chanting.
  16. Love the pictures! The flaming logs are awesome
  17. Excellent! Cheers muchly dark warrior
  18. Paul beat me to the question. I've never seen a charcoal kiln like that. Is it loaded front and rear? Any pictures of it in use?
  19. Does the landowner want nothing in return for your hard work, other than well managed woods? Do you not pay him anything for the wood you use to make charcoal or sell for firewood? A friends of mine is head forester on a local estate, I'm wondering if a message to him might be in order?..
