1. Yup, love my nuts, thanks Bos, did text you. Very kind, it felt like Christmas! Good to hear your fine and dandy! Did your phone try and top its self because it found the world so unfair -haha.Anyway that A1 looks different in the dark, could have happened to anyone :-/Oh and how are your Lunatic plants getting on care of Jenny?
2. Oh and Daniel Bos, how are you? My husky is still living up to it's expectations!
3. Thanks Stefan, If you had a few days work for me I could probably justify the drive, I think your a couple of hours away which is nowt really. Digs aren't an issue in summer months. I tend to sleep in my big old volvo or a tent when away, I like a few days hard graft somewhere random, think it's good for the soul and it's always nice to meet you lovely Arbtalk folk!
4. I totally understand Metsaman. My neighbors told me I needed to get a boyfriend whilst I was celebrating my Peugeots birthday one year. It was the best car I will ever own. 24 years is a long time, I bet your car loves you back - they can you know!
5. I can tell you like your Peugeot. I used to call mine the thunder tank but unfortunately I scraped her when she turned 21, no time to fix her up :-( But it's o.k. I like your easter egg vidios, I also have the two foxes that hug, I like them.
6. Metsaman, this was my peugeot. 309s are the best!

8. I liked the fox, I liked the penguin, I liked the paints but I don't understand the last one, was it a plate?
9.
What are those nice bullet proof gloves called? My handy pandys are cut to ribbons and miss them, may purchase my own as a surprise treat for them.Pray tell.

10. HASWA- Health And Saftey at Work Act. PUWER- Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations. LOLER- Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regs. And COSHH_ Hazardous substances. Are worth brownie pionts too. Helps to know of the reliant AFAG Guides and FISA. If your in an assessment and you make a mess of something, knowing a bit more than necessary means the assessor is more likely to be satisfied you are competent enough to pass.
11. I perhaps should have read more of the thread than post number one before replying, however I was thinking of Kirkley Halls Arb fair, (near Ponteland) they have around May. There's a bit of climbing, a steam powered bailer, forestry equipment etc.
12. This fri and sat? I thought it was May?
13. I'm no pro yet ether but this sound like fun, any excuse to go tree climbing! I wanna go.
14. First aid kit- just a token gesture plaster in a bag will do. Also read through a copy of the NPTC test first. It mentions the need for a kit in there. Sounds like you have it all. Chain oil? The testing center will probably have stuff if you forget it on the day. I did my cross-cut and fell certs last year and it helps to get you head round how to tell what size file you need for a chain. Also knowing what HASWA and PUWER stand for. Passed my tree climbing assessment today, whoop whoop :-)
15. Nice one Bill, I didn't know that. Like the picture of your work, have you got a website?
16. Thanks for everyones input. I've taken some pics to illustrate what I decided. I bought a 1/4 sprocket, dime tipped 12" bar and chain for the MS. Happy with my new Husky 550, all good! Going carving tomorrow all going to plan. Smiles all round!
17. Great stuff Wisewood! When I bought the MS 181 I did inquire and it is the smallest saw they sold that would fit a bigger mount if that makes sense. Great link, thank you!
18. I see where this ones going... I do fancy a husky but I have a second 16" bar for my sthil, would be better if it was compatible with a larger saw as it is a touch too big for the wee saw- it takes a lot of power away and the weight is a bit off. Probably a silly reason tho.
19. I got asked to fell an Ash earlier this year, the first job where I was felling something on my own- bit like the first drive after your driving test. It was a bit big for my saw so I borrowed an old Husky with an 18" bar. Obviously the Swedish made saw made light work of the Ash, even if the bar could have done with being a touch bigger. I sat my wee MS with her 12" bar on top for the hero shot as there was one one to take a photo of me next to the stump. MS did do the majority of the sned and cross-cut:thumbup1: so should take some credit but really I need a bigger saw, you are right again Daniel.
20. Those are both very good points I hadn't considered. I'm probably not going to go far wrong what ever I decide. Indoor chainsawing does sound good, and also I plan to do the odd carving demo in the summer so battery may be better on the ears of spectators!
21. Hi, I'm saving up my pennys and my budget is around the £300 at the moment. I'm ready for a carving bar. Do I Convert my sthil MS 181 and change the sprocket and get a 12" carving bar and chain- cost £100-£120, leaving me a saw down.I will then buy a second hand saw with what money I have left. Don't think I'll want to keep changing the sprocket every day as those c clips jump about everywhere! Or do I buy a second saw? I've had a shot on a new MSA 200. They are around £250. I was well impressed! I thought a battery chainsaw would need charging every 5 min and have no power but I was surprised. They arn't a replacement for a normal saw but handy for light ground work. Carving bar is standard on these saws. What do you think I should do?
22. Thanks Dan, Had a good laugh, told my son your cheesy jokes this morning, he approved.Hope do some more work for you next weekend!
