  1. doesn't the resting just apply to driving, there must be some haulier kicking around on here with some knowledge on it I'll just wait till they fine me again.

    Nah,

A rest is an uninterrupted period where a driver may freely dispose of his time. Time spent working

in other employment or under obligation or instruction, regardless of the occupation type, cannot be

counted as rest, including work where you are self-employed.

  2. well usually we would use the trailer on a Monday and the tacho will show the vehicle hasn't been used over the weekend so there's 2 days rest.

Aye, but that doesn't prove that you, the driver, hasn't been 'on duty' all weekend.

If you've spent all weekend processing logs then that doesn't count as resting.

Its all abit messy, or is it just me?

  3. no idea. theres 2 of us do deliveries so even if they look at the tacho record without the cards in it won't mean anything either.

Many drivers spend some of their time driving under both EU and GB rules. EU rules usually take precedence over GB rules. Important points to note:

Time spent driving under EU rules cannot count as an off-duty period under GB rules

Driving and other duty under GB domestic rules count as attendance at work under EU rules (and cannot be counted as a break or rest period)

Driving under EU rules count towards the driving and duty limits under GB domestic rules

So my take on that is, VOSA could technically do you for being over your hours, and not having/showing adequate rest periods

  4. no haulier told us get your card out soon as you can.

Ok, see here is where iam lost.

You pick up your trailer, put your card in, drive 10 miles and get pulled by VOSA

They ask you to prove you have had adequate weekly rest, for that week, how do you do this?:confused1:

  5. think this is what Tomatin did when they pulled him for no Tacho as he has small woodland on the farm.

I remember, or think i remember, reading that you have a Tacho fitted, but only use it occasionally, as you dont always tow a trailer?

If iam correct, how do you record your weekly rest period?

For example, if you dont take the trailer all week, but then take it on Friday, you put your Tacho card in, but how do you prove you have taken adequate weekly rest?

  6. How have you plumbed it to the tractor? You're unlikely to get more than 80l/min through a standard spool, and the non return valve fitted to the trailer's pipe work can also slow oil flow.

Your right, i was talking whizz.

    I get 80l/min (i read the book).

Still a fair old flow, and still a slow crane.

  7. I'd say slower than Botex.

Youtube them, they are real slow.

I run it off a Fastrac with an oil Flow of 110 litres per minute, so plenty oil[/quote

Interesting. 110l is a lot of oil i wonder if the restriction is in the valve block. I was thinking of a KTS roof mount.

Definitely ask to see one working before you splash the cash.

  8. That trailer will not last 2mins down British roads and pot holes ,the A frame looks far to lightweight and similar to my HOBBY Caravan Aframe which flex's something silly down crappy roads .

Stick to what you know best ,cheaper is not always better .

    Ste

    What trailer?

  9. I knew a Moheda with a 6m on it would be around 50k but i had no idea the Palms would be around 25k. That is Botex money. Who may i ask is selling these trailers at such a price?

The palms have a nice ladder chassis, a +/- 40 degree steering draw bar and the rams are very well guarded. Also has a breaking link between the extension and the rotor. The legs are quite substantial too. It was very well built. The hydraulic tank is right behind the headboard though and i think it could do with a bump plate in front of it.

KTS and Vreten also might be worth a look. Saw both at the same demo and they're very good. Again slightly less well know brands. The KTS trailers come well specd and the Vreten had some very nice little features on them.

I have a KTS crane, 6.7m and find it very slow.

    Well enough built, but slow.

  10. I'm an end user registered as a self supplier as an RHI claimant. Spoke to the RHI help desk for guidance on becoming Producer/Trader status and they seem to think that the rules will change soon so that all firewood suppliers will need to be registered on BSL even if not supplying RHI customers. So it sounds like all biomass fuel suppliers will need to prove sustainability and CO2 impact. I've not seen it in writing but was told verbally.

    Really?

I wonder what they will/are able to do if suppliers don't register?

  11. Haven't heard of oniar before. How much and is it the 2wd you bought.

Yeah just the two wheel drive.

Iam mainly on the road and in the yard.

I forget the price, got it from Jim at Riko, you should give him a call.

There is a video on YouTube of the 4 wheel drive version.

I have shifted at least 2000tonne of chip wood with it, and tonnes upon tonnes of brash, and the trailer is still like new.

  12. Hi. Looking at getting a new forwarding trailer to replace my botex 5055. Thinking about a palms 13d or 15d driven trailer with an 840 crane. Has anyone had any experience with these or recommend something similar. I know the likes of kesla and kronos are good trailers but is it worth spending the extra 15 to 20 grand. Thanks in advance, Mike.

I bought a 14 tonne Oniar trailer a year ago.

Cant fault it, very well built.

I got in extended so it would take two bays of 3m chip wood. This extension is removable, for getting into tighter spots.
