1. Quick one. Who has a Stihl Kombi? Which engine size and why?! Pros and negs?
2. Been doing LOTS of research into chippers for my next one and come across this: 2005 jensen 530, 500 hrs cracking original condition, spare wheel on (optional extra!) Just had new brake shoes, cables, hitch damper and damper sleeve. Spare blades. £7500 Iv seen the pics and it looks in decent knick....! Anybody wana push me over the edge or give me a reason not to commit... It's either this or pay 2 grand more for a Schliesing with approx 1000 hours. Any help would be appreciated. Ta,
3. It functions but apparently you need a different cam.... Only just been told this!
4. Thanks Tom will have a look into that
5. Spud, Yes you're spot on I was only giving a simple example without all the nitty gritty and as you say if I wanted out now then we're quids in. Always going to be risk with any investment I was just trying to let people know that property is a hidden gem if you have the initial deposit. All the stories in the press are stories to make money... 'House prices sky rocketing' or 'House prices plummeting'...! Drives me mad. Anyway I'm done with this one :-) Good day all....
6. Hi all, I've gotten to a stage where I need a fairly decent sized saw, approx 24". It will be used mainly for a few fells, chogging down and then logging firewood every so often at the yard. I'm thinking either a Husky 372 or Stihl 460/461... Can I have your wise opinions on either of these 2 or an alternative... I'm wanting half decent power, reliability and not too heavy... Ta,
7. Not a problem I will explain using an example of just one property in Essex: Bought in 2011 for £120,000, using a 25% deposit (Thats £30,000) since then have been taking £725 rent PCM, my expenses (including mortgage) being £500. Thats £2,700 per year for 3 years= £8,100. Just remortgaged the house, its now worth £160,000.... The magic of property is that extra value on the house (£40,000 in this case) is ALL mine Yes I'm not allowing for tax here but you pay Capital Gains Tax when you sell the house, even so I have got my initial money back already. Hope that helps.
8. Been following this thread with interest. There's always the nightmare 'mate' who has had a drug farm grown in the house or whatever other story you see in the Daily Mail. However the majority of property and BTL is one of the best investments you can get. Firstly you get monthly income to cover your rent and expenses, secondly you have an asset that is increasing in value (UK is an island, property prices will always increase in the LONG TERM) and thirdly its very tax efficient! Why do you think majority of MP's are landlords..... they know the system! I've had a handful of investment property for 3 years now, I've pulled out almost everything I've put into all of them already. You say 20k wont get you a property.... have a look at a small mid-terraced up north, with a 25% deposit I bet you wont be far off... I see bargains all the time up there :-) If you dont know about a subject.... buy 3 books about it....
9. Darrin, Just seen in your pic I require a different cam for a wire core flipline....! Maybe that's the answer I'm looking for!!... more bloody money... grrrr
10. Thanks for the replies however I only bought the thing and this was my first real job with it other than playing around with it in my bedroom (and don't say what I think you are!) Maybe my set up causes it to slack off or catch easily. Could somebody send a pic of their set up for me to compare cause it would be a shame if somebody (or me!) got hurt doing this with the wrong set up...
11. Hi all, Everyone I've spoken too has gleaming reviews on the ART positioner 2 which I completely agree with. However upon using it the other day on a medium sized ash dismantle I was finding that it was catching quite a lot and slacking my lanyard off when I didn't want it too, it was quite off-putting and distracted me... I have it on the right side and use a small ripaway which connects it to my harness. Anyone else experienced this? Cheers,
12.
Hi Woody, looking for an accountant around the suffolk area, I noticed yours was reasonably well priced although semi-retired.... would he/she consider taking me on. Maybe you could send over their email address?

13. Yes it does help, and thanks all who have had an input... Think it goes without saying the education route is well worth going down
14. Hi all, Lots of threads on the credibility and quality of courses which is very useful however I have found nothing on how people have balanced working full time with doing a course? I plan to conduct either the level 4 with Treelife or Level 2 Cert with Myerscough. Do you genuinely think it helps to get ahead with your careers? and are you able to continue to earn a decent living whilst studying? Thanks,
15. Will probably go for alloy checkerplate box from Metallics UK Ltd who quoted me £800 for box width and height of cab and about 18" wide with locking doors. Didnt want roller shutters as they take up too much space but they quoted £1000 for a box fitting over the chassis (lower at ends) with roller shutters. check them on ebay Thank you V much, will check them out

17. Hi all, Im pretty much set on an Isuzu Grafter tipper, however I want a nice little tool lock up. Where do I start looking and how much shall I expect to pay to get a tool lock up on it? Is it better to buy one already modified...?! Cheers
18. Some good advice here. I'd say it matters on your personal situation and finances. If you can throw a bit of money in at the start and spend on the right forms of advertisement then you can get going within 6 months. Otherwise it's going to take longer if your relying more on word of mouth from happy clients.
19. Great tips here. Sow the seeds now and you'll reap the benefits later on :-)
