Having owned loads of 4x4`s, including just about all the earlier landy products upto TD5 Disco 2, the best by far was a Jeep Grand Cherokee. Way better off-road than any land rover and a whole lot more reliable. The best landy I owned was an `88 defender 110SW, it only broke down 4 or 5 times (always at the most inconvenient or critical time though) which puts it top of the pile.

I get IBC`s for free from a company that make concrete products, the IBC`s had release agents for the concrete moulds in them and the manager there is happy to get rid of them. Have a nosey round industrial sites etc and see if you can spot some empties, a word in the right ear and it can turn out you`re doing them a favour.

I use a pair of CAT safety specs, I find the visor on my helmet can be a pain in the arse especially if the sun is at an awkward angle and you get glare on the mesh.

Our supplier, Angus Chainsaws, provide excellent service. Often they will pick up the bit of kit, and return it in good time, if they can`t do the fix on site. Sometimes there may be a slight delay whilst they check with Stihl if the saw etc is still under warranty but it only ever adds a day or two. As for the thread title- I use the 441 with 20" bar for the bulk of the work I do, just prefer the extra power and bar length. As a note, I prefer the oregon chains as I`ve had several stihl chains let go on me.

We have recently set some live traps, mainly due to the fact we have a good population of reds, not had any success yet so might try the cashews/peanuts idea. Currently using maize and only had a few nibbles, which I reckon could be mice. Traps are checked daily due to the resident reds. Shooting would be a waste of time as there are only a couple of greys, just want to get rid before they become a problem.

This one does, although I think it`s just the roll cage as standard and the roof/screen are extras. As I recall there are 3 different models, the camo one being the lightest and either slightly shorter or narrower, it also has the better tyres for off-road use. It`ll take 1/2 ton in the back and tow 1/2 ton too, although I have hauled well over this. You can also get a canvas-type cover that wraps round the back and sides to enclose the cab from the elements.

Had a Honda fourtrax but have recently changed to a Kubota RTV 900, much more capable with tipping load bed, hi, mid and low ranges, a roof, and more importantly its in realtree camo so the landowner can`t find me!

Thanks guys, Matthew whats the one you have on your digger? Think I would prefer a digger mounted one due to flexibility and the fact I can get the digger into places that the tractor wouldn`t fit.

Any advice on decent hydraulic post drivers? Either tractor or 3t digger mounted. Cheers

10g Chikara and 300ml Glyphosate in a 15ltr knapsack will kill everything and keep it that way for upto 6 months. You won`t be able to grow anything for at least 6 months though.

Got one of these, cooked the battery a couple of weeks ago and was quickly relieved of £56 for a new one! Still a good gun though, would hate to grease the tele-handler or the 3t digger with a manual one

Just done my days training for PA2A today. Course was pretty good, only two of us doing it which is always better. Only really need it for our 70ltr sprayer mounted on the back of a Kubota RTV, so I don`t need to know all the tractor/self-propelled stuff, could`ve done the test just knowing the PA6A and knowledge of the sprayer but always worth doing the `actual` course. Probably get my test booked for the next two to three weeks. Should mention- course was run via Ringlink services ltd

Check for a sediment bowl on the carburetor, if there is one give it a good clean as usually full of crud. Perhaps also give the carb a good blow out. -
Afternoon all, I`m Jay, I work on an estate in North Angus with around 600 acres of woodland. I do almost all felling, thinnings, forest roads, drainage etc etc. we produce hardwood logs, softwood for mills and biofuel and also have around 1000 acres of arable farmland. Looking forward to gleaning info and hopefully contributing too.
