  1. I will have one please Steve, can you send me the info I need for pay pal.
  2. Thanks all!! I have sent them an email and will get one sorted. Thanks for your input.
  3. Yes, I put the GX 160 on and its great, I had to get a new pump and bell housing set up for it but its great now.
  4. Why not have a go yourself? It's pretty straight forward and once you get the hang of it you can save time and money. Use a vice and a decent file, you will find the info online for the angles mate.
  5. Do you know of one you could suggest?
  6. I have just seen this on the bay, any good?? Is it worth getting? Thanks:)
  7. As rob has said £900 for the tree mentioned seems far to much. When I price a tree I price it to be fair like most people on this site would, cover my costs and make a bit for myself, that sounds like half a day for 2 men and the waste £350 ish. I agree with your bit about the Bentley thing and that is wrong.
  8. I'm not a member and don't know if I would benifit from it.
  9. What line of work are you in Alec? There will all ways be people who do jobs cheaper but there is all ways risk of what if? If the lad had fallen out of the tree or off the ladder? No insurance, no ppe, etc then they would be screwed. I have a professional company, we are insured up to £5,000000 so that if a branch drops on someone or we break something we are covered, I have employers liability so if my employee breaks his leg at work he is covered, this does not come for free it costs me a lot of money. Then there is the training to be able to do the job to a safe and proficient standard. Then there is equipment, so that we're not dumping the waste on the side of the road. All this cost money. Then I need a wage and I want a decent wage to be able to put up with customers who have no idea:)
  10. I can't see how your tools have more value than us tree surgeons?? Van, Chipper, stump grinder, chainsaws, hedge cutters, climbing kit, insurance?
  11. If they haven't called by lunch time, ring them.
  12. That's great, tidy!!
  13. Great news Adam. I found out I was going to be a Dad last Christmas Eve so this year was my first as a Dad and it has been brilliant! Well done.
  14. I second that, you can't beat a positive attitude!!
  15. Depends on what has gone wrong? Is yours a v twin? If its seized up them depending how bad it is it may only need a new set of piston rings and a the barrel honing or it may new pots, pistons and rings. You should try bondy who used to work at Haytons mate.
  16. I had one on my old Carlton and never had any problems with it, maybe you just had a dodgy engine. Can you not get the old engine rebuilt?
  17. That's a whole different thread man! Don't worry about that stuff co there is not a lot you can do about it. Get thinking and planning how you are going to call company's in the morning!
  18. Should be fine as long as the engine mounts the same. So long as the belt pulley or clutch fittings are the same then it should be ok. I just upgraded my engine on my splitter with a bigger engine and that's fine.
  19. Dave Ridding or Genset Steve here o. Arbtalk may be your men:)
  20. Boo Hoo!
  21. I know a guy who has a bike to get to his job, so does silky on here. It seems your on a bit of a downer which I can understand but think positive, get on the phone first thing, offer to work for free to get your foot in the door. That's what a lad did with me and he proved to be a good lad, I bought him driving lessons!! You never know, you just have to be positive in your thinking. Help your self and write down a plan of action. 1. Ring every tree firm in your area!! 2. Sell yourself over the phone. 3. Offer to do a day for free to prove you are worthy. 4. Think positive!!
  22. Where are you based?
  23. Ok, first thing tomorrow ring round all the tree firms in your local directory and ask if they have any work available, offer to work for free to get your foot in the door. See what happens. If you can get a day for just 1 firm it could lead to more. It's worth a shot surely.
  24. How old are you Chipper80? I ask as round here under 21 can get help with things that can get them a job, 2 lads that have worked for me had there NPTC tickets paid for by Age UK, you should try them. Round here we have Cumbria connections and they also pay for things if it can lead to employment. Ask about these things. If you really want something enough then you will find a way. Don't be a talker be a do'er:)
  25. "I bet he does a lot of rock climbing" or "£80 for logs!! But you get them for free" Or "I have a chainsaw, how do you sharpen the BLADE?"
