  1. It's very common on these how do you store it. I have found if the sit with air down they seem to leak
  2. Mountfield ones are different to hayter ones due the drive works off the engine on Mountfield ones. The covers are more universal and service items. Good engines tho
  3. I use morris oil at work that's died blue and made in Britain That's Jaso fd
  4. Bush works perfectly but now I just need to make a spacer and exhaust as the piston hits the cylinder. And the cylinder is sitting at 90 degrees instead of 80.
  5. I hope this helps [emoji23]
  6. You do worry about some peoples thinking sometimes
  7. The 042 uses a 13mm wrist pin so I need to downsize to 10mm to make everything work
  8. The only difference I have found is the wrist pin sizes I have managed to get round this by getting a bush that will go between the needle roller bearing and the wrist pin
  9. Yes always loosen the tank cap before have you checked the breather on the tank
  10. I know they're different designs but they're cylinders are very similar as I said the odvious difference is the angle of the spark plug but other than that I cannot see any major difference
  11. Does it run and rev on choke as I know these do like to use their choke on start up. Also have you tried bliping the throttle? To try and get revs up
  12. What do you guys use to clean these saws??
  13. Has anyone managed to do this as they're both the same stroke and the 044 is a bit bigger in bore. I can only see the plastics being the issue in this as the spark plug will stick up higher
  14. Someone has unfortunately damaged the muffler 😔 so I'll probably just repair it and leave her be
  15. Stihl 042 a proper old saw
  16. I recently bought a 042 that runs I was wondering what would waken it up a bit. I was thinking a dual port muffler and Base gasket delete. any other simple mods that would help this saw?
  17. I might have a carb and ignition coil for one of these.
  18. Dont managed to track one down and a chain brake / clutch cover
  19. If you need anything for one these I have one as a parts saw. Have you adjusted the hi carb screw?
  20. Does anyone have one have one these exhausts laying round as I am struggling to find one with one having to order from America.
  21. Can't beat free stuff but saying that I have the 24v Clarke rechargeable one that is more than enough for me. I also got given a bluepoint air impact wrench and the previous had dropped it so the sockets use to fall off until I welded it up
  22. Well that's alot more than I paid for it so I would be happy with that.
  23. And they have a habit of loosening exhaust bolts
  24. Did both your batteries go or just one as I use a 07 plate tipper and one had gone long before the other
  25. If it's a genuine ford battery I'm not surprised they're rubbish. Shame they're not like the old motorcraft ones. Remember with batteries you get what you pay for
