  1. I totally agree with what timber man says a lot of young people are not interested in hard graft. commercial cutting is a hard game , been doing it myself for 28 year's it's starting to take it out on my old bones and joints now. As for the rate's you get paid it's up to you to decide if it's worth it. I know how much I'm worth a day and so do the contractor's I work for. The way things are going cutters will be a thing of the past because not many if any new lads wanting to do the job. I've seen some come out of college after getting their saw tickets and they haven't a clue. It takes more than a week or two to get clued up in this game
  2. Thanks for all replies and comments. I usually use oregon or husqvarna 2 stroke oil. I just thought I would try a different make of saw for a change. If a 560xp goes for about 6 months without any problems it's doing well. Maybe it's just the demands of full time forestry work,it's pretty hard on saws plus my husqvarna dealer is bit slow at repairs. There's a lot of saws waiting to be fixed at his workshop.
  3. Thanks for the replies lads as you know 560 is a good saw but so unreliable. Been out for a few years now but still breakdown at an alarming rate . My local dealer sells a lot of saws but that many breakdown he has a large backlog of saws to fix. To many issues to mention with them so I thought I'd try something else. I think I'll try the echo 620 next.
  4. Cheers Thanks for the reply
  5. After more problems yet again with husqvarna 560xp I have decided to buy a makita 6100. It will be getting used for full time forestry work . Are there any members on here use them for this type of work . What faults if any too look out for and where can I buy spares online like AV springs clutch parts and the like.
  6. buy her a new iron that allways goes down well
  7. hello logrover I like you work in front of harvesters all the time and have problems with saws a lot.it is the most demanding work a saw gets.ive had 4 560xps in the last 2 years.I had a 372xp xtorq as well that was rubbish didn't even last a year.I have 2 560xp in the workshop at the moment waiting to be repaird.I am running a jonesered 2171 at the moment and its lasted well the last 6 months.I think a lot of the modern saws are built very poorley.I had a Makita 7300 a couple of years ago I was impressed with it to start with but had major problems after a month.
  8. I to had a nose go on a sugi pro 18" 3/8. It hadn't done a lot of work so sent it back and credit to rob d they put another nose on it and sent it back with a grease gun and some grease. He was maybe hinting that it was lack of grease that caused it. To be honest I never usually grease the nose of the bar but since I've been doing it on a regular basis it seems to be lasting. Maybe these bars need a bit. They are quality bars at least there straight when they come out packet. I've had some oregon prolight bars with slight bends in them but I still use both makes.
  9. I also had lyme disease about 5 years ago.i had the bull's eye rash so went for a blood test.it came back negative after about 7 weeks I went back to the doctor as I was having bad flu like symptoms and a stiff neck.i said to the doctor who was different from the first one i saw that I though I might have lyme disease. He told me that i had the blood test so it wasn't that.I went home and 10 minutes later he phoned me to go back for another blood test and it came back positive. I think he must have Googled information about it because he said it needs a few weeks in the body to show up. Took some antibiotics and have been fine since. Never alway s believe your doctor
  10. 4 560s in 2 years great saws but reliablety s--te Jonesred 2171 back to the old school
  11. Give the nose of the bar plenty of grease or it will fail.great bars but the noses are the weak point
  12. I had a pair of sip inovation last year, I didn't like them .They're to warm for summer time . There quite restrictive and didn't last long.sip progressive are far better, iam on the ground all the time I think the progress would be better for climbing
  13. I had this problem with the first three 560s I had. It was a problem with the gasket between the crankcase. They all eventually pissed oil out. Got them all fixed under warranty, and now the newer ones have had the problem sorted so my dealer says.
  14. Your local husky dealer is not much use if he has to send the saws away to get fixed. Try and find one that will
  15. Been using oregon two stroke for years seems a good enough oil.saws breakdown whatever oil you use especially when getting worked hard. The husqvarna dealers that say you have to use husqvarna two stroke oil or the warranty will be void are talking rubbish time to get another dealership
