  1. I have 2 Stihl machines and 2 Echo machines. I can tell you with out doubt the Echo are way better quality than Stihl and Husky for that matter (the Huskys I have handled). They start better sound better and use less fuel. It's in the detail as well, for instance my Stihls have steel mufflers both rusting a little, but both Echos have Stainless steel mufflers. Don't think Echo are cheap machines, they are not. Try one, you'll never have another brand. Marc.
  2. I'm putting good money on the Echo's. My 420 is a powerfull little bugger :-) Marc.
  3. Only the odd one maybe but out of all the dealers I rang only one would ship me a saw. I couldn't even buy a pair of pants! Good bye Stihl, Marc.
  4. I have two Stihl machines and I have just picked up an Echo cs420. I love the Stihl but I can quite honestly say that Echoes start better, feel better and sound better. As and when I need to replace my stuff it will be replaced with Echo. By the way I just picked up an old Echo hc160. It had not been touched for years. I took it home filled it with Aspen and it started after only a few pulls! Now it starts on the second pull. Amazing machines. Marc.
  5. Get yourself an Echo. Superb saws!
  6. Echo! You'd be daft not to look at them. Just got a CS420 yesterday, absolutely love it! Marc.
  7. Haha No you answered me in another thread that i started 'Echo or Dolmar'. Thanks mate, you're not going crazy. Marc.

    Echo or Dolmar?

Yeah, it is a problem having no dealers. The only reason i'm considering one is because i'm off to Germany. But I keep hearing good things about them. But I hear lots of good things about Echo, so I think I will wait for my saw and buy a Dolmar in a few years. Marc.

    Echo or Dolmar?

Hell fire! So that's what an Echo on Crack performs like:biggrin: Marc.
  11. I think I would look at Echo and Dolmar as well. They really do have some good saws. Marc.

    Echo or Dolmar?

Nice saw for sure but double the price. So just too much for me I'm affraid. Thanks, Marc.

    Echo or Dolmar?

To be honest all of them! Anything from the PS420 trough 115 to the 5105, the 115 and the 5105 I know are more money, and probably bigger than I need them to be, but they do look good. I have ordered the Echo for £296, which is a pretty good price. So any Dolmar around that price would be a contender I guess. Nice to hear the Echo is a good saw though. Thanks, Marc.
  14. My Stihl HS45 Had some problems which were sorted. My FS90 ran pretty good straight away. I would say just go for it and see. Worst case is you need to change the carb diaphragm. Marc.
  15. Given the chance which would you guys go for? I have ordered an Echo CS-420ES but have been waiting 4 weeks for it and no sign yet. So I was looking at Dolmars website as I am going to Germany in a few weeks. My interest was piqued by some of the saws. I know most here have a lot of good things to say about Dolmar but what I want to know is should I wait for my Echo or pick up a Dolmar? Thanks all, Marc.
  16. TCD Have you any experience with the 115? Supposed to be indestructible. Might not be available in the US though. Marc.
  17. Echo does not have the same policy as Stihl. Nor does Husky. Marc.
  18. Radmore have an Echo CS-310es for 178 quid delivered. From what I have seen and heard it is a super saw with a 5 year warrenty. I Had it in my hands a couple of days ago. Its a very nice machine, what's more its the same saw as the CS-352 that TGB recommended but with a slightly smaller engine and a lot cheaper! And made n Japan. Marc.

I put a comment on there yesterday, not a good one but not a bad one either, but it looks like they have removed it. And what's more worrying is the fact that there are NO comments. Does that mean they have removed all the comments because they are too negative? I know censorship in China was a problem but that's going a bit far! Marc.

I was told anything below the 435 is made in China now. I'm not sure it has to say where it is made over here, but it does in the USA. but I could be wrong. I have nothing against products being made in China so long the quality doesn't suffer. But what I don't like is when the price stays sky high. In that case it may as well be made in Germany or Japan. Marc.

I couldn't agree more. I have always bought Stihl, so when I needs a saw I naturally thought Stihl. But my Stihl stuff is a little older and made in Germany. I am now getting told by Dealers not to buy Stihl! Most of the smaller Huskies and Stihl are made in China. No thanks not when Echo are made in japan. Marc.

Thanks guys, I have to be honest I am drawn to the Echo saws. I like the fact they are made in Japan and not China. That Echo CS-420 does look tempting I have to say. Marc.

Just fire wood really, but I want it to last and perform. Don't want one if they are a POS. Thanks, Marc
