    Solo 636

Does anyone have any experience with the above saw or Solo in general. Don't seem to hear much about Solo but they are made in Germany which is a good start. Thanks in advance, Marc.

    Echo 60s

That's what I was planing for it. Not an everyday saw just occasional use an something to do up. Do you think I would be able to get parts for it? Marc.

What do you think Spud, are they still serviceable? Marc.

    Echo 60s

Hi all, My next door neighbour has just offered me his old chainsaw, he says he is getting a bit old for it and might end up cutting his leg off, it is a bit big for him. It's an Echo 60s, an old saw by the looks of things. The question is, can I still get parts for it? Does anyone have any info on this saw. Thanks all, Marc.
  6. Yes, that's about what I paid. Marc.
  7. Could be Eddy, as it just kept flooding. I think the Aspen maybe dislodged something or even created a minor chemical reaction in the carb, who knows, but it's working now so i'll stick with it. Marc.
  8. Yes thanks, I tried to edit the title but there is no edit button. @Eddie. Thanks for your time with this issue. And it was great chatting with you. I was a bit miffed to find out my Stihl is over six years old. I bought it after I moved here and I have only been here 4 years! I guess it's probably a good thing as from what I understand new Stihl stuff is crap compared to the old stuff. The guy from Redblade say's he does not know what went wrong and that I was probably very unlucky. Anyhow all good now. Thanks again, Marc.
  9. It definitely made my saw run cool for a week or so!:-)
  10. Good to have my cutter working again and now it's an eco-warrior! Marc.
  11. Yep, can't fault Eddie. He really is doing all he can for Aspen and it's customers. Just a liitle update from the shop. He rang me this morning and said he has cleaned the carb, diaphragm is good etc, machine is now running like new, there was no dirt in the carb. He said there was a little oil but not sure if that was making the needle stick a little, says he is not sure. But no charge, so that's good. Credit to him and Eddie. Marc.
  12. Yeah, I know not to fill right to the top, I left about an inch. But flooding is a problem since the Aspen went, I know that's not the fault of the Aspen, but I've had the plug over the gas twice. The gesture from is good, from the conversation we had, without seeing the machine of course he is as baffled as me. As the problem was instant. So he wants to fix it so he can see what it was. Again, the problem has been made worse by the dealer taking the stance he did. As Garde kit said above, he was a little short sighted, especially since I told him I wanted a new saw. Needless to say I won't be buying it there. If there is a problem with it I WILL be charged.
  13. That's some serious money saved I bet. The thing is you also never really know if you have a bad repair shop or not. You could be charged for stuff that doesn't need replacing. At least when you do it yourself you know what's been done. A couple of years ago I took my car in to be serviced. I've always done it myself but because of work I had no time so they serviced it whilst MOTing it. Anyway I asked 'have you done it all, air filter as well? 'Yep all done' he said. I left the garage, approached the roundabout an as I braked the NEW air filter slid out from under the seat! Still in it's box. I went back and told him it goes under the bonnet! Marc Marc.
  14. Just to be clear there were no pre existing problems. The dealer that sold me the Aspen said that there simply wasn't enough mark up in the product to re-tune a customers machine if it did not run properly:001_huh: I know, I know, I need to change where I get my stuff repaired. In all fairness I have never had anything repaired there, I went there because they are my local Aspen dealer. Marc.
  15. Thanks Geoff, I was begining to think people might have thought I was a bit of a plonker who can't work a hedge cutter. I can't wait to know what the problem is myself. @Eddie. Since you are comming a long way I'll get some dinner sorted for you Eddie. Marc.
  16. I will read it, I love 'how to' threads and maintain a my tools myself normally. It can save you a lot money for sure. No more going to dealers and getting charged for new fufu valve. Marc.
  17. I agree with you entirely. Actually he said two to three hours not £40, that was me guessing. It could be a lot more. Like I said Eddie from Aspen wants to fix it. From early on I have said I don't want to slag off Aspen, fundamentally I think it is great fuel. The problem has probably been made worse by the dealer not saying 'bring it in I'll tune in two minutes'. It won't put me off.
  18. Thank you for your kind offer. But Eddie is going to fix it. Marc.
  19. It's no use having a go at me! Have a go at my dealer he's the one that said 2/3 hours! I have searched and read Aspen threads. Some have problems some don't. I have no doubt they can be sorted with a quick re-tune. My dealer seems to think this is going to cost, as above. Just spoke with Eddie from Aspen, nice guy, is going to find out what the problem is and sort it. Marc.
  20. It's NOT an unfair post because it's the Aspen dealer's words i'm just passing them on here. I have searched on Arbtalk and found a lot of people have had similar problems to me. They, in many cases have been sorted by a little re-tune. The problem is both Aspen and the Aspen dealer told me they would run fine, the dealer rang Aspen whilst I was there. Now if he had told me it might need a re-tune I could have made a more informed decision, especially if it was going to cost me money as the dealer is now saying. Maybe Aspen should tell all of there dealers to mention this. It seems only fair to me. Marc.
  21. OK, just a little update. I have just taken my hedge cutter in to the shop and told him what has happened. I also told him that he can send the bill to Aspen as a machine this new that was running like a Rolls Royce before should not have any problems. He then told me that all machines have to be 'converted' to run on Aspen and that could be a two hour job. It was nice of him and Aspen to NOT tell me this before hand. I'm sure if they said it could cost maybe £40 to tune on top of the price of the Aspen they would not sell as much of the stuff. Not happy at all as you can imagine. Now they will have my machine in to next week, I'm glad I do not need this for work, it would be costing me a lot of money. Marc.
  22. No, funnel was spotless. I cant see it being dirt the tank is clean. I have done a bit of searching and it seems that on rare occasions some engines don,'t run well on it. My fs90 was OK and I filled that first. As I say when it did start it was very rough. It's a shame because I was really hoping this would be my new fuel but so far I wish I hadn't bothered. It's a good job I wasn't on my way to a job I would have lost a days work:thumbdown: Marc.
  23. Well I have contacted the dealer I bought the Aspen from and he said bring the machine in. It might need a tune or it might have some dirt in the carb. It had no dirt in the carb until I put the Aspen in! What I am a bit miffed about is the fact that Aspen have now gone AWOL on this thread, I asked them a question above and nowt! If my hedge cutter needs work or I get a bill I will be sending it to Aspen. It can't run perfect one minute and not the next. Marc.
  24. Yes, but this machine is nealy new and was running perfect until I put Aspen in. 30 seconds later is won't run. Marc.
