  1. I have to say I love my job! I work with some great lads, and some very experienced ones too that I can forever pick their brains and get some good knowledge! Ok, there are bad days when nothing ever goes right, and some days you wake up or look at a tree and think, I'm not sure but once you get up there, it's so good, has to be one of the best jobs out there for me! 2. What about the 036? And are the huskies no good? I haven't been in this game Lombardy so only familiar with the newer saws! Seen a 360 on beat that might be worth a punt Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  3. Hi all, your probably all bored of these questions about what saws shall I buy, husky vs stihl etc. But I after a saw for personal use, for a few little jobs for the family mainly, now I want a mid sized saws, something not too big to sned up but something that's got the power just incase I need it, ideally something will run a 18" or maybe more comfortably. Been looking at a husky 350, only got around £300 max or £400. Any suggestions? Thanks and sorry! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  4. Just get as much sleep as possible through the day! I quite enjoy them in a strange way, something different, just go to bed with your ear defenders on cause you will be able to hear everything if not Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  5. Ocatvia or a passat! My friend has got a passat 160k and still going strong with no problems what so ever just general wear and tear Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  6. Ok, no worries now, gone for 8mm can always swap and change to 10mm if its no good Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  7. What's the best cord for hitch climber, 8 or 10mm? And my rope is 13mm. Also what length would be best to go for? Cheers Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  8. Hah ok my bad! Going to try a few different set ups and see what's best for me. Can I just ask what's the best length to get eye to eye cord, 90mm or do I want shorter if I was going to use a distel or vt? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  9. Could you please explain what a pinto pulley dmm is? Considering spider jack, however people say its potentially dangerous, is this because you could knock the lever? Any other options? I tried the hitch climber p, found it ok, but didn't like how easy it was to descend on, it's quite sensitive, maybe better off with the Prussik mentioned above! Still need a good think about all this before I spend hard earned! Ha Thanks Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  10. I have been climbing most days now for 8 months at work, so think its Time to progress, didn't manage to try the hitch climber today, hopefully have a bash later on in the week some time with one Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App

  13. How do you mean colletti? I imagine its annoying moving the pulley down every time you want to descend even doing little adjustments? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  14. That looks spot on however,'it says it will only take upto 11mm, any other options for 13mm? Cheers Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  15. Yes that's the video I saw wookie. Quite like the look of that. So would this pulley be upto the job? http://www.frjonesandson.co.uk/products-page/climbing-equipment/pulleys1/28kn-isc-fixed-side-pulley/ Then a tibloc? Could you please explain the krab fair lead way please? Have looked at the vt set up before, something I going to consider thanks for the help guys, and like I said thinking about moving to a blakes Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  16. Only been climbing about 8 months so far, going well but looking for ways to make it aBit easier. I just climb on a Prusik,'which I like because of its simplicity. However just been looking at the slack tending Prusik and wondered what pulley or device I would need to set this up? All the pulleys etc confuses me! Would this also work on a blakes? Any other suggestions welcome. Thanks in advance Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  17. Nice to see some honest answers! Only been climbing 6 months or so now, but getting slowly used to the heights. The only thing I struggle with is trust in the tree, thinking is that anchor actually strong enough, and when doing branch walks, even though I'm not going to go very far, it's all in the head! Also agree with most others, did a sycamore a few weeks back, totally fine and just as quick as anyone else until I got to the top and they were nothing below me! It's all about confidence the more you climb, the easier and less worrying it will be! I never turn jobs down, don't mind been thrown in at the deep end because it brings you on a lot! 18. Thanks for all the advice! Since it happened I have been quite worried when taking off some of the bigger stuff. I will take onboard the advice and i should be fine do the tool strops have a certain breaking strength? Thanks again! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  19. Yes that's correct, have I done the snap cut wrong or would I of been better doing a inboard? Thanks Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  20. Hi there, I'm fairly new to the world of arb, been climbing solidly for the last 4 months now. I was taking a rather big limb of a black pop the other day when the chain got snagged in the cut and took the saw with the limb! Quite scary really luckily I wasn't too high and it pulled on me and swung me round! Is there any reason for this? Is it certain trees its more prone to happen in? Cheers Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  21. Thanks for the replies! I am trying to learn on the job but just want to learn everything I can. I appreciate their isn't a book for everything but tree their uses and Managent sounds like what I am after just ordered Collins tree ident too, thanks for the help people Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  22. Can any one advise me, I'm fairly new into the arb game! I'm after a book about all round tree care, pruning, growth, disease fungi and also tree I'd! I guess I will be lucky to get a book tha does everything but just after some extra knowledge it all! Thanks! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  23. I don't often watch sx live but do watch them on YouTube a few days after! Love my motocross, was out yesterday on bike, until the gearbox failed currently in pieces on the bench now! Went to watch the maxxis at fatcat few months back, usually try to get to hawk stone every year and going to make the effort to get to matterley this year! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  24. Yes I was thinking RSI or something similar! I have used a cambium saver a few times, but the problem was still there! It is only in one arm, mainly my pulling arm which is my right, so lke suggested I am swap over for a bit, hopefully it will just be that my arms haven't got the required muscles yet so it's putting strain on other places! I will have a look at the compression tops didn't give them a thought! I am also going to start stretching out before climbs and trying some deep heat, thanks for the advice everyone! 25. Hi all, well I haven't been climbing long so I am quite a newbie! I started my new job 2 months ago with little climbing experience, I have been climbing pretty much everyday but I am finding I get a pain in the top of my arm/ shoulder area when I'm ascending! Do any of you get some pain when climbing? I am un familiar with different set ups have used a foot ascender sometimes to get up which does help but so just wondered if anyone could give me some advice on something a little more suitable to that doesn't cost the world and will complicate me too much? Thanks in advance Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
