  1. Hello all, I've set myself up as a sole trader, with the intention of becoming a freelance groundsman / 2nd climber (when I have more experience). I'm after the average daily rate for both jobs, so I know where to pitch myself in, with the idea of offering a discount daily rate for the first couple of months in order to get my name out there, and takin into account my experience level. Also, can I offset the cost of equipment for the start up of the business against my tax at the end of the year? Not sure if the rules are different concerning sole trader and ltd company. Thanks in advance, Gordon Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App

  6. And looking at the husky bar, it's a .325 Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  7. Cool yeah it's got a witness mark, but just looking, the saw uses .325" pitch, however the chain sent with the saw is a .025". Is this a drama? Would have thought the supplier would have sent the correct pitch? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  8. Right ok, did need a lot of filing on the depth gauges, and a few working corners missing. Still keep? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App

  13. Hmmm... I feel stupid... Hope that not the case, any thoughts on the bluing? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  14. Scorch marks on the chain? Can't get my head round the lubrication, plenty of oil getting fired out the nose of the bar Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  15. Oil leak since the saw has been sitting after being used, maybe looks a lot because I'm used to doing maintenance on an old mucky bench? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  16. Yeah I see what your saying, the stumps have been out for a while and free from stones / dirt etc, maybe I missed some and it's blunt as a result of that, I'll give it a sharpen and see if that makes a difference. That's the bluing..... Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  17. Hello all, Got my first saw today, 560xp - yeah I've read the reviews on here however know two people who rate them - obviously having never "broken in a saw" before I have noticed some things / symptoms that I haven't noticed on old saws.... 1- does a new chain come un-sharpened as its blunt as hell. 2- is there suppose to be a chain oil leak once the saw has been run up and hot? ( chain oil currently dripping down from sprocket area onto newspaper) 3- I checked that the bar was getting lubricant, ran it at full revs over a stump in the garden and there was a line of oil, however I have bluing on the underside tip of the bar on one particular spot - about a cm long -????? Chain was just right not too slack not too tight, also noticed that the bar was gettin hot cutting through some dug up stumps I have. Would appreciate any light you can shed on the subjects, everyday is a school day! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App

  21. I have an X10 for smaller logs and kindling and an X25, was converted after I saw the fiskars YouTube video, comparing it to loads of different axes etc. Had the X25 a day before it skipped off the log and into a paving slab... Now got a small chip on the head, lesson learned there. No problems with the axes other than my user error... Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
