  1. On Saturday morning I came to my lock up to find the padlock cut off the hinges bust open, all kinds of nasty claw marks at the door but it was still shut tight?? My home made security had worked 4 bolts through the door into brackets attached to the door frame with captive nuts attached! They obviously either couldn't figure it out or didn't have a 19mm spanner to hand! It saved me this time but what do all think the best tried and tested security methods are???
  2. Is chas approval worth getting would it make a big difference if trying to get commercial work etc? A company in Liverpool said they would do all the legwork for us we basically need to sign it etc for £350 for their work then £140 for the chas ticket? Is anyone on here approved and feeling the benefits Thanks
  3. Thanks for the advice, are they the type of thing that could cost a total fortune if things go wrong? I am a time served car mechanic also so would I be able to do a lot of maintenance etc myself?
  4. Looking at buying my first chipper, I do mainly domestic jobs, quite a lot of conifers etc! Do I buy used or lease a new machine? Do get petrol or diesel? Gravity or roller feed? Any advice from those who have been there before? Thanks
  5. Something about American pick up trucks! You gotta love them!!
  6. We have a small viking mower for little housing estates etc it is great! It has stood up just as well to abuse as £1500 honda mowers! I would highly recommend them to anyone!
  7. The customers husbands porn collection, did the right thing and handed it to his wife! Would hate him to loose it!
  8. I have had a few ifors, had 2 lm146 a tt85 and I've just bought a tt2515 which is the new generation of tipper. Got to say its a perfect trailer for everything I do it's had 2 dumpy bags of sand in it with 50 bags of cement packed around the sides and it was fine. As mentioned by someone else the only thing is the tailboard catches the floor when on full tip, to the extent it lifts the wheels off the floor. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App

  17. Yer that's all I really want, it's through gardening I took an interest in tree work, one day I would love to make it my full time job! I want to work safely and properly, hence the reason I wanted to get at least some tickets! Surely I have done the right thing? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  18. Thanks for your advice everyone, I'll go into detail a bit more, I am a gardener and wanting to progress further into tree surgery. I often help a climber on the ground and he has encouraged me to get a start with the tree side of things so we can get an insurance policy together. I am fairly competent with identifying trees etc and I know I can handle a saw safely, but I do want to advertise to do tree work so my climber friend can be groundie for me! I live for being outside, I love tree work, but I totally respect that it takes years and years of experience to know the trade, and to me it looks like one of them trades that you never stop learning about? What I mean when I say "when can I start" is what other courses should I do aswell as the ones I mentioned? Would it be beneficial to do all the wind blown trees, sectional felling courses etc or would I pick that up from my experienced climber friend. Thanks for your advice again I really appreciate your time.
  19. Hi everyone, I have completed my cs30 and 31 and have my 38 and 39 booked for April. Once I get these tickets can I begin advertising for tree work I.e climbing and dismantling or are there any other courses I should do first? Thanks for reading. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
