  1. Oh well more training then 😊 Sent via postman pat
  2. Went to give a price for the complete removal of this! After realising a phone line runs through it I told her it would be approx £420 chipped up and taken away stump left 50mm above ground, she then went on to say she had a price of £250 of someone! Do you all think am miles away or is that about right? Sent via postman pat
  3. Is there a book you can buy that gives the ins and outs of road works, there are plenty of times we take up say a 1/2 or a 3rd of a lane on the road doing tree work and I get the feeling a few 300mm arco cones are not enough!! Most times it would not make sense to get a local traffic management company in as it would cost too much and price me out the job. Although I would get someone in if it was a really big job! I don't mind buying signs etc, it just seems crazy doing all my chainsaw and climbing tickets, PA1 & 6 tickets all Heath and safety stuff and first aid, being fully insured then being totally illegal when I park my van on a roadside! Sent via postman pat.
  4. Glad to see your getting better and getting back into the swing of things. Gods country seems to be getting the better weather today, working in the rain on the west side! Sent via postman pat

  13. Where can you buy a pad of risk assessment forms specific to tree surgery or do you just get them made by a printing firm?

    Arb cars

For people who use the trucks, vans, land rovers, mogs etc do you have cars to drive around in socially or do you drive your van everywhere like me! If so what cars do you have? Pics would be good!
  17. The other side of the coin is this, I have a log burner at home, so anything 3" and above I take home and log up, and to be honest most people i do work for know someone who has a sister with a great auntie who's next door neighbour had a log burner so I end up leaving the wood on site. With this in mind do I need something big and powerful? Again I was hoping that people who have a bit more experience than me might see this as no reason to buy a smaller chipper? For example I would like to get into commercial work but obviously what I would like and what is realistically obtainable are two different things. Would it be a waste of money buying a 6 or 7" turbo diesel chipper or would it be a worth buying a 4" chipper and if the commercial side started earning enough I would then just chop it in against a more substantial machine then?
  18. Thanks very much everyone for your advice, I appreciate people taking the time to post comments. 😊
  19. Yer I do like the idea of a new one, I bought a 5 year old vw transporter when I started out 1 year later the engine blew, the lesson I learned, buy the newest you can afford. It may not be to the exact spec but the van cost me thousands to fix which could have initially bought me a new one!! I kind of think it would be the same with the chipper? Plus I want to be able to know its not gonna let me down? The hire machine I borrow is b%#€cks!
  20. Thank you for your reply monkey business!!
  21. Then a CCTV camera so you can see them while they suffer!!!! How long before you called the police an hour? Two?😀
