in reply to the road racing the nw200 is well worth a go some of the smaller ones in the south are good but can be dangerous at times but i think its fair to say any man that does road racing has balls of steel

    fitness

Today was my first day climbing in college for cs38,39 training and although my pace up on a normal prussik was okay i feel it could have been a little better as i had to keep stopping for breaks Then came the one that really told me that i need to start doing some fitness training a speed climb up a 20+ meter black pine to which i made it about halfway up and had to come back down because i felt dizzy and sore Anybody have any training tips that could help me improve or should i just keep climbing and eventually i will get fitter ? Thanks Darragh
  10. thanks lads I was talking to my dad and i think joining the AA would be most defiantly worth it as I am sure I can gain a lot of valuable information I think its best off I do some research on it all and find out all the specifics in how the law differs in Ireland to the UK rather than come back from college and do some tree work and get myself in to trouble for doing something I thought is okay when its not maybe the college can send me on the right track
  11. thanks for the quick reply yes im in the south of Ireland and i have never really heard of anything on it, I have looked up on the government legislation website things such as TPO's and PUWER and LOLER and RIDDOR and the search returned no results which had me inquisitive. Maybe I will just have to look a little further into it over here when i finish college
  12. I know there might not be many people on here that will be able to answer this question but i will give it a crack anyway. Are the legislation's and law on tree work the same in Ireland as they are in the UK ? any replies would be appreciated:biggrin: Thanks Darragh
  13. done the tour of the greenmech factory with college and got a demo of the chippers and the arborist 150 looked great and chipped very fast
  14. hi decco just in response to asking about colleges and such I made the travel over from ireland to go to moulton college in northampton and i would highly recommend it im mid way through my first year and i have never once doubted my decision on studying it,love it alot and have learned alot so far with a year still to go when you are under 19 you do get all the tickets and stuff free with the exception of the college fees Darragh
  15. thanks for the feedback it would surely make getting insurance easier and cheaper the more tickets your have:) plus as eventually i plan on setting up myself back in ireland itll be a good qualification to able to show customers and have to my name
  16. I was thinking over the weekend about doing extra tickets for woodchipper, stumpgrinder and MEWP either during or after my college course but one thing i would ask as there is a lot of experienced people on here who own buisnesses does it actually benifit or make a person more appealing to hire knowing that they are qualified to use them machines or is it just a case of the training i get at college would provide me enough experience to know how to use them safely with exception to the MEWP ?? just out of interest is all :0:001_smile: thanks Darragh
  17. just an example, may be just the old mc culloch saws but i seen one which had been used im not sure for how long but the clutch managed to overheat so much it melted through the side casing hahaha best off sticking with a husky or a stihl
  18. its just im using one on my forestry lid at the moment for a helmet camera but im moving onto climbing at college and want to make 100% sure before I go sticking it onto a brand new petzl ill send them off an email

    cs 30 31

hi lads got through it all okay was a slight bit nervous and some of the questions had me sweating a little but got the passes in the end and im very happy matt george was the person i had teaching me felling from the start of the course he knows his stuff and the assesors name was simon herbert. Last of all may aswell put it out there i have to complete 400 hours of work placement as part of my course so if there is any arborists/tree surgeon buisnesses in and around moulton/northampton that are looking for anybody gimme a shout because so far im struggling with a total of 0 hours

    cs 30 31

Im taking my cs 30, 31 tomorrow at college and im really trying my best to study for it but while im studying ive came across some things in the assesment criteria that I am struggling to remember so im just wondering could anyone on here point me in the right direction on: legal constraints in relation to tree felling like felling licenses, TPO's , conservation areas , wildlife and countryside act and any general tips on how the assesment goes would be greatly appriciated. thanks
