  1. It's none of their business what you charge for, or pay your staff. The price is the price, they agreed to it, and are now trying to get out of it. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  2. Burst water manifold???? Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  3. It certainly is easy to cut and handle, these trees have a lot of blisters (featicules?)full of sap on them, making them no good for the sawmills. It's all WW1 era planted, and quite huge. 'Twas cheap enough for me so I'll go back for a few loads and maybe sell some, see how it goes. It's all wind blow that I fetch. It certainly is a pleasure to extract and log them compared to the oaks on our farm. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  4. What are the pro's and cons of softwood? This is the first year we have got softwood as firewood, I went and bought a grain trailer load, extracting it my self from a local forester as due to work commitments I haven't felled any wood on the farm, our own woods are mostly oak, so that's all we've burned all my life. Is softwood fast burning rubbish? Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  5. I'm the fourth generation on our farm, passed all three driving tests first time, and work as an agricultural contractor. We are not all cowboys. On a late night run in an artic a couple of months ago I nearly hit a chipper left on the side of the Ludlow bypass that had a flat tyre, van still hitched to it, no hazards or signage. Fact of life, if you're an idiot, your job doesn't really come in to it at the end of the day. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  6. So it wasn't a scrounging, lowlife, subsidy grabbing, corrupt farmer, who when not robbing society is out on his tractor to murder your family with his dangerous vehicle that flung the brick at your motor? Can I ask you a question, do you hold a HGV licence and CPC card? Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  7. Was that an ag vehicle? Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  8. Thanks, I'll give it a try. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  9. Apologies to mods if this is in the wrong place, but does anyone have any old school or modern tricks to get pine resin / sap out of chainsaw trousers and other clothes, I'm getting covered in the stuff!! Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  10. I have no experience of council tree officers, but I have of council officers in general, first thing you need to do is ask others in your game you can trust if they have had dealings with the tree officer in question, and see what kind of person they are, maybe if he / she is a real world person, a come clean type of approach might yield the desired result, on the other hand they might be a right little hitler and love the fact you came clean and throw you to the wolves anyway. If they are the latter, keep a low profile, but just keeping a low profile for the sake of it is no good, you'll be waiting for a knock on the door all the time, better to find out the score and see what you can get away with. If you could coax the customer in to giving you back the invoice, then no one can prove you did the work! Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  11. If the chain snapped, replacing just a link won't be any good, it will just snap somewhere else. Replace it with a rope and pulley from Shelbourne Reynolds, they are the makers of the new model. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  12. I am a dealer for the starcom watch lock system, it is a high quality abloy padlock with an integrated mobile device with a sim, it will alert you via text when it is disturbed by movement, it also acts as a tracking device and will tell you where exactly in the world it is. These are £250, the uses are endless, you can combine it with an eye lock so no one is taking it away without you being alerted instantly. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  13. Any Valtra dealer Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  14. How bad was the injury? Scary stuff. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  15. Life proof fre on iPhone 5, just be sure to take it apart and wash the case thoroughly to clean the membrane by the speakers, don't do as I did and try to clean it with an air line, it just blows the membranes out and then it's another £70 to replace. Latest case is more refined than older one, very pleased and wouldn't have an IPhone without one. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  16. Fuchs Renolit using the reiner cartridges or John deere grease guard premium using the lube shuttle cartridges, conventional grease guns are rubbish in comparison. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  17. I agree, so how come I notice the difference? I'm not a tree surgeon but have a fair few acres of trees and am fully trained, so not some hit and hope amateur. I believe temperature has a lot to do with it my self. The chain oil will however come into contact with the teeth as it goes everywhere! But you are correct in that its purpose is to lubricate the surfaces between chain and bar, it is not a cutting lubricant. Who makes the best Bio chain lubricant? Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  18. As edge lasts much better than when we used to use engine oil. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  19. I'm no tree surgeon. I'm a Farmer, but I always put husqvarna chain oil in my saw. It's just right, and the edge keeps better on the chain as a result. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  20. Got one off rob at chainsawbars and its great, a little bit fiddly, but the time taken to set it up is still less than sharpening half the chain with a file, and once you get going, you sharpen the chain like a razor in minutes, just be carefull not to blue the teeth. Best bit of chainsaw kit I have bought for years. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  21. I'll give them a try, thanks for the tip. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  22. I dunno, but one thing I do know is electricians are in demand, would be a good earner doing both I'd have thought. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  23. I have a bryce HD2, good on steep ground, but not so great in really awkward corners. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  24. Are there any contractors / mills / hauliers available to supply lorry loads of Cordwood to Conwy North Wales ll32? Reasonable access for artic or lorry and drag, just HiAb over hedge. Prices and availability would be very much appreciated, thanks. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  25. Dickies reaper trousers. Farmers choice! Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
