    Hi Roglog As Dean says light the fire with lots of bone dry kindling,have some pieces of 2 x 2 cut into 2" squares, once the kindling is burning hard throw in the 2 x 2 keeping lots of air round each piece this should burn fierce and fast once your flue is warmed up.

    My gas bill was very similar last year, fitted a 5kw log burner last september and cut the gas bill by half, burner paid fror itself and more in under 6 months. Only have the gas heating on now for a hour or so for upstairs.

    Hi Bradshaws Grouncare have a tip site for chip/logs, they are on here, its about 5 mins away from where you will be working.If you cant find them I could get you the landline number If you are tipping the logs I would be very grateful of a few. Hope this helps
