  1. Hi I'm having trouble working out measurements and also trying to find instructions on Drew Bristows modified class one splice?
  2. Just adding a spin to the dyneema strop bit ... What if the zig zag bit was to fail a rivit pops perhaps... As mention previously if there's a possible recall who is to say that other parts may fail. If there is a forging problem is down to the paperwork not the forge or machine making it its down to the variables programmed into the manufacture.. Better to be safe and wait for R and D to be finalised ...
  3. Ultimately it will do its job that's what it was designed to do.. What I was wondering was its practicality in the above scenarios as I know there are a lot of freelancers that would benefit from it and other devices that work similar. The current impression I get is that it works in every situation as there is so much reference to its Prussik like characteristics. If its so Prussik like then it will work everywhere, if I was freelance still then without a doubt, but on the smaller street trees it's hard pushed to beat a Prussik as its about climbing more so then sitting on the rope on the street trees as opposed to using the rope to climb the tree? I would like to add one to the collection, but if it's not gonna work on the streets then there is no need for me to get one just yet I'll stick to me hitches and sj ...
  4. I was going to ask this also... Anyone using one full time on street trees? Re-pollards, ornamental reductions etc Would be hard pushed to beat a hitch in this scenario.. I climb vt pussik sj so am open to it just wondering what it would be like on the standard stuff. Looks great for back garden stuff, tall, large open canopy trees etc What are they like up a hedge or ornamental when it's tight and awkward?
  5. I don't think you can camp anymore, but do doublcheck don't go on my wimm. Be interesting to meet a few of you lads I've met Tommy B and Andy Clarke, I'm hoping weathers nice and turnouts big. Plenty of beer and gadgets lol Although I think capel should "max power" the show a bit with some sexy women and stuff, fire etc We will see!
  6. I agree with the above comments, like I said befor if your gonna you touch it then decide what it is your going to do, personnaly give it a framework to work with or just don't bother touching it at all, if man is going to touch it then it may aswell be done properly( likewise man has never done anything half hearted in nature befor?!?!) it is very much all or nothing as the only concern is the wall in this scenario not peoples safety so leaving it is best if possible if not you'll not be cold for a while Tom
  7. Crown clean, deadwood, maybe remove some crossing branches very light thin if it really needs it and I'd be more interested in the vegetation around the tree that have and are impacting on its ability to spread out and develop properly why has it grown like this and it's balanced itself around this, at the same time don't remove to much shelter and see if there is any formative cuts to make as opposed to a full on reduction to 're-structure'... But ultimately it's down to the arborist to make those best possible decisions... And to confuse it more everyone all acheives the same thing thereabouts but does it differently. Up to you... I would be minimal it's not hurting anyone.
  8. Ah well I now see that ain't on lol
  9. Keep em well oiled especially in wet I don't like graphite as it always seems to not work as well as oil in the wet dirt crap etc. Only ever had problems with carrabiners when not regularly oiled gate sticks spring pops out, had all of these problems arise from lack of maintenance How do you service yours do you lot use graphite or anyone use trusty old wd40?
  10. I'm on it give us dates in advance got some full on re-pollarding at the mo so gona hold the Epping reccy till I'm back to ward pruning so start of feb should be ok with me!
  11. Same ill try come pleasure to climb elm, my tree in Epping needs measuring too!
  12. New to all this how will I know my raffle numbers etc or do the winners get posted as a list cheers even if I'm being stupid
  13. All seems really complicated for a rope with the same name lol
  14. I'd like to know this too I wana get the 9 mm stuff so what splice is this also ?
  15. How tall do you reckon? left my kit at work man may come if I can get bits in morning?
