I work for mercedes benz truck dealer, we would spec any body with any crane you want, all main dealers Should offer This wherever there man, iveco, dpf, mercedes or Renault.
  2. You shouldn,t get any major problems if done well? Did they use a well know company? Your correct, you don't want a chip box, in a word there crap, I only do specific to each vehicle, I never reuse a map on another vehicle even if it's the same engine, year, and so on, each file is.custom to each vehicle
  3. You can get air brakes fitted, alot of iw trailers can have them retro fitted easily and uprated to 4000kg which can behind most the landrover family range, it makes such a difference to the drive and soo much safer, I have the company's details somewhere, will dig them out
  4. I hear what your saying, I've worked for mercedes main dealer for 10 years, and have seen a great differance in this too, yes the manufacturer is getting or pushing more power from the same size engine we did 10 years ago, the the move in technology and martials have aloud this, and causes very little reliability issues, the issues is the emmions tear system the government keep pushing, were on euro 6 now, with ad blue technology and egr running side by side, due to these systems being emmions related, them must bring on warning lamps, and 99% of the time will cause lack of power (safe mode) this is so you the customer have to take to a workshop and have the fault fixed so the emmions are running correct, 80% of the repairs we do is.for this reason Hope this helps
  5. I work for mercedes benz commercial, so for people who don't know that vitos, sprinters, unimogs, the truck range and mercedes own about 90 of the canters now aswell, also have my own tuning company on the side, long story short I brought a master tuning kit to allow me to choose who and were I buy my modified maps from. 99% of my maps are stage 1 which is a mixed map of power gains with, if driven the same as before the map is done you will see better mpg, dpf needs to be there for mot, we cut and remove and inners, looks like it's still there then, depending on the age of the vehicle they might have pressure sensors in there, then we would have todo a remap to tell the vehicle they haven't got one any more
  6. Always go for a remap over a chip. Most ecus from 2000 onwards will be remapable, all your doing by chipping the vehicle is removing the "non remappable " chip in the ecu and solder in a mappable one, each engine and ecu will have differance potentials, post what vehicle and engine hp you have and I can tell you what you should see in an increase, I specialise in light commercial vehicles such as transits, mercedes, ivecos ect, and hgv's, it's quite rare if you don't see a mpg improvement, we tend to get 1mpg better on the large hgv which is a saving of about 10% on fuel.
