My 6600 is coming up for sale. It's got full guarding and a double drum winch but no crane. Send me a message if you are interested and I'll send you some pictures.
  6. If you can't find anyone local send me a PM or call 07811852704. I have some loads available near Ross, Herefordshire.
  7. Keep moving the tractor and trailer to different park ups in the woods. Thieves often know your habits (or are told them), so make it hard to find. Extend the boom and chain the grab to a tree, make sure if they do come they'll have to work for it. I'd worry more about the tractor and trailer, they can drive those away.
  8. Sounds like a plan. Have you already got a source of standing oak accessible to a daf4x4? How much has the mill offered for oak ? As long as you can keep the timber coming out for less than your selling it for you'll be ok.
  9. I'm not sure, ask the coppice federation if they are having one. I resigned as a director a bit ago so not upto date on their goings on. It was fun last year, we had a small one up in Hereford in october, which was also fun. Anything that gets us out the woods and 'networking' is worth supporting. Especially when I can buy some kit at the same time.
  10. £65 / ton delivered 2 weeks ago. Which I feel is a fair price.
  11. I forgot to add- The basic rule of planning a work site is to look at the end product and work backwards.
  12. Where are you based ? It does sound like a good business, there is a lot of derelict coppice out there and it's prime for anyone game enough to bring it back. Have you seen a branch logger ? Have a search on the threads here, they are made for your kind of set up and are pretty cheap.
  13. Please call me on 07811852704 or email [email protected] for more details.
  14. It's next weekend !! Grab a bargain, sell some tools, meet new contacts, eat a sausage or 2, and raise some money for a great organisation. There has been a lot of interest, and some good stuff entered. From axes and billhooks, to sawbenches, peeler pointer and a stroke processor. If you need help unloading give me a ring (07811852704), there will be a board for displaying adverts for kit to big to bring. Sell tools out the back of your car or truck, come early as it looks like it's going to be a busy day. See you next week.
  15. We are also looking to borrow trestle tables, pop up gazebos or show tents. Get in touch if you can help.
  16. Bump. We have had a lot of interest in the sale, and there are people coming from all over the country. Which is making me think we should start the ball rolling for one somewhere else in a few months. There have also been some rumours of interesting kit coming. Personally I'll be bringing pictures of my forwarding trailer which is up for sale, likewise if my RB44 is still for sale it will be coming (any one that wants to get in first give me a ring...). I'll also have handtools, cordless drill, electric chainsaw, lots of chains with 50% life left, powerhammer, and maybe a diesel sawbench. Any one else bringing good stuff ? See you there.
  17. I've just had a look, the btcv has been sexed up and doesn't do the free handbooks anymore. You can buy one off amazon.
  18. Have a look in the BTCV manual (download free off the website), there's bound to be something about it. From memory the first cut is at around 3 -5 years. Then it's in rotation for the species and product.
  19. Business loan from your bank. It's likely to be 50% on land, and you will have to go through the normal business loan paperwork.
  20. Hello Matt. We had 2 loads picked up last week, 25.5 t (33 m3) on each. I always go by volume as you don't get penalised if it takes a while for the wood to be picked up, and you and the buyer can stand next to it with a tape measure. I add 40% for air in the stack, is your's hand stacked ?
  21. I think there is a coppice group in the area. Hugh and Caroline at Hazel Woodland Products are probably worth contacting.
