  1. Let us know what area of the country your in and someone may be able to help you out
  2. Ive heard this BS before, and whenever i hear it now i just ask why? and no instructor has given me a reasonable answer yet. none of them know why its just what they have been told or heard before. Metal to metal is common place and ever best practise in other industries so i feel fine about it. Yes with rescue etc its handy to have a cut away but to have a soft link between every metal to metal junction is madness. With twisting forces and cross loading i think this is a no issue, im willing to bet a krab is stronger under toque than a sling? and krabs are designed with a healthy cross load breaking force, more than you could generate under normal work and certainly more than your spine can take.

  4. I cant seem to edit and save the pdf so can i post you a copy? Thanks Ricky
  5. Im definitely in, look out for my application form in a day or two.
  6. Starts first pull when hot, so whats your prob? People get all worked up over this auto tune thing. dont mess with it, dont try to reset it, dont worry about it. Its not called 'manual' tune, its 'auto' tune. Everything you need to know about it is in the name ;-)
  7. 028av was my first saw and im gutted i sold it, its a great saw! brand new at £120 i would have two of them given the chance. you'll get you money back on ebay all day long. Getting spares for them is a nightmare tho, the only reason i sold mine.
  8. Just to be clear, and I appreciate the op could have been misleading, the only attachment to the suspect part of the tree is for work positioning eg with a flip line.
  9. I would definitely be interested
  10. Thanks David Dobedoe, I think your the only one here that understands what I'm on about.
  11. I like the cable tie idea, gear loop could work also.
  12. Ive heard of a few accidents recently involving been tied into a limb as a secondary with say a lanyard or flip line for work positioning and then that limb snapping out and taking the climber with it. Im thinking why dont harness have a 'soft' link that will break in these situations freeing the climbing from the secondary and falling onto the primary? I realize it would be open to misuse but im thinking of adding a loop of low strength cord to my side 'D' only to be clipped as a secondary and only when i think the limb could snap. What ya think?
  13. Just started trying a blakes hitch on a hitch climber and seems to work well, anyone know why its not used more often, something im missing maybe. Also i hear a blakes should be the same dia as you climbing line? mines 2mm less but works just fine, whats the justification for it been the same?
  14. I thought this was going to be a really in depth, informative and useful post. Its non of that and so much better :-)
  15. Thats interesting, as winter is most recommended as the time to prune, (exceptions withstanding) So are we saying even with the trees reduced defences it still out weighs pruning at other times of the year? ie the affect of loosing photosynthetic mass at a time of need and that pathogens are more prevalent at warmer temps, etc...
