  1. Thanks for that buddy, must look into that advice. Really appreciate it. That's a fair bit cheaper than I thought they were here. Would especially like to buy local if I get the 550AT as it has to go back to the shop with the computer tuning possibly. Will make a few phone calls tomorrow and get a few prices.
  2. After doing a little research and not sure if the 550 xp is available in Ireland yet. Now the only prob is going across the pond to purchase is I can't fix these saws myself I presume and will be kinda screwed. hmmm
  3. Yeah that's the only thing that turns me off the Autotune too, I like to be able work on and fix my own saws. When were the first autotunes released I wonder?
  4. Nice way of putting it lad:D I think you have all swung me towards the 550. Now to fund it lol. Waiting on the sale of a bike:001_cool:
  5. Definitely need to get my hands on a 550 lads. Like the sounds of it. At the moment I'm just looking primarily for a firewood saw but am looking into forestry work in the future possibly as things aint good in my line of work at the moment. Need to do the courses but eh why not.
  6. Oh and forgot to mention, that price is for the old model. Fookin nuts it is here.
  7. Yeah I really need to check out the 550 mate. Just checked the Irish dealers here and they don't list the 550:confused1: Oh and the 346 is 803Euro I'm into tuning diesel cars and vans myself:D Might just look into porting my next saw. It's supposed to be a wicked little saw when ported agree:)
  8. Not bad but I think the money here in Ireland is quite a bit more, need to verify yet. I really need to see one of them 550s in the flesh and run it. Not that I wouldn't like a ported saw mate but I want to keep this saw for a good few years without problems. I don't do a serious amount of cutting tbh but might consider it down the road. I thought the 346xpNE is supposed to be one the fastest 50ccs out there? Thanks for reply mate. It's defo between the 346 and 550 xp. Not have my mind made up fully, but the 346 is a bit in front due to it being tried and tested. Is it not as good as the 346 in the bigger stuff? Has it as much torque as the 346?
  9. Thanks for all the replies folks. Really appreciate and think I'm going to go with the husky. Change is good anyway. More replies, experiences and reviews welcome:)
  10. Sounds interesting but what if that autoune jazz goes tits up and it can't be fixed by owner and needs to be brought back to shop, could be a costly to repair. I do like the sound of it, but not persuaded fully yet.
  11. Yeah think I'm going to go with the 346 as it's been around longer than the new variations. Thanks for the welcome:) I don't want something giving niggly little problems like most new things do for the first year or 2!
  12. Haven't tried it yet but have read some very good reviews from seemingly experienced saw men. Supposedly a beast little saw for a 40cube. Some good reading here for ya if you're considering the purchase. http://http://www.arboristsite.com/chainsaw/182792.htm
  13. At that rate not worth purchasing abroad. What kind of money was your last 346 in O'Connors and was it the new edition? I'm not far from them at all and have bought a saw there before:) Handy if ya need parts too. Brian and Dave are sound to deal with too. Ps. Thanks for warm welcome.
  14. Thanks for the prompt replies:) What kind of money is the 550xp running at versus the 346 and 261? I'm in Ireland, but will probably be purchasing from UK anyway. Only problem being one can't buy Stihls without being there in person I think. Is the 550xp giving any problems or is it pretty much tried and tested? Was also thinking of the 241c-m, supposed to be a savage little saw but like the 50 cube saws for the option of loading a slightly bigger bar.
  15. Hi all, first time poster long time reader. Ok folks, I'm shopping for a new saw in the 50cc category. I like both of the above as I have had a go on both, big thing for me is reliability. I do have a pull towards stihl but have nothing against the husky either. Think they are lighter. I want neutral opinions of which saw is most reliable. It will be used primarily as a firewood saw. Thanks lads, and ladies for all the expertise, love this site. Don't post much but follow. Another important point is which of these are easier work on etc if needed (used to stihls)
