    Saw Purchase:)

I'm actually near the Corrib mate and not the Mask. 1 mile outside Clonbur. Yeah nice little pub for a drink that. Not sure if they open any more though. Good friends of the family in fact. Her Dad wasn;t a postman from what I remember though I think, he did drive an oil lorry for a while. Tragic what happened her brother few yrs back. Real nice bloke

    Saw Purchase:)

Can't comment other than what I've heard Mad Matty apart from the 346 becoming rattly after much use.

    Saw Purchase:)

haha, small world indeed Grass hopper. Greasy Joes is gone for a number of years now, 7 or 8 I think. The day of the payphone is gone now also. How did the cow tipping go for ya lol. DOn't know how many times I've been asked about cow tipping since I started living in London:lol: Most the lads at work know I've a farm at home so find it quite amusing:)

    Saw Purchase:)

Yeah that's the way I run a new saw too pretty much, just run it wot but in wood and don't have it labouring. Thanks again Geoff. We cut the hedges with saws which I think isn't great as it's rarely wot and one tends to be constantly blipping the throttle. Will use one the older saws for that or else invest in a hedge trimmer.

    Saw Purchase:)

Yeah will stick with the 15" so as I'm 6'3 and will occasionally be bucking with it also. Can't wait to get home and in timber lol. Best read the manual first though as some on here had starting and running problems seemingly. Is there much of a run in period needed?

    Saw Purchase:)

Collecting a new 550xp tomorrow and don't know which bar to choose, the 13" or the 15" B&C. Thoughts and experiences welcomed:)

    Saw Purchase:)

The prices back home are horrific to say the least, I don't know how lads living off the saw make a penny with the price of replacements, service parts etc. I'm from a little place out wesht called Clonbur. Between the Corrib and the Mask.

    Saw Purchase:)

Thanks. I'm from Galway and thought I'd pick one up here in London or somewhere near before I hit off on Thursday. I'm working up until Wednesday so have only couple days left. Might give it to the old man as a gift:D

    Saw Purchase:)

Didn't know of them and have family there also. Just thought I'd get it here before I go home and save the trip. What's the best prices people have got here on either saw I wonder. Do these new auto tunes give much trouble compared to the tried and tested carb.

Thanks for prompt replies folks. Yeah kind of swinging towards Huskie anyway Geoff:) Was thinking of Fr Jones Johnny. Didn't know there was dealers on here mate. Details and prices be great. I'm leaving Thursday so not much time left.

    Saw Purchase:)

I am going home from the UK soon and am thinking of getting a new saw here as they seem to be considerably cheaper than in Ireland. Have the 550xp in my head or the Stihl ms261. Should I purchase here and save some money and thoughts on both would be great Thanks all. The huskie is £532.49 compared to 860.00 euro at home. The stihl is £490.50 compared to god knows what. Pros and cons of both would be great. Reliability is number 1. Had stihls before and can't complain but would like to try a huskie for a change maybe.
  15. I see there is 5 bids on it too by some innocent souls:cursing:
  16. What about a stihl:D Maybe an ms260/026 or the like. Would defo be going for something in the 50cc category minimum as a firewood saw. Husky or stihl, both are top notch:thumbup1:
  17. They are still producing the 46cc for certain markets I think. Don't quote me on that. Think I heard it somewhere.
  18. Yeah can only imagine a 60cc with a 15". Just a bit pissed off they don't have the 550xp here yet:cursing: Would love to try a 560xp though before buying one to be sure. Might try and track someone down.
  19. Agree mate. Think I'm going to go with the 560 then. Might get a 241c-m down the road for thinning/limbing etc. Right now all I need is a good firewood saw and I think the 560 will suit better for ringing timber:) Hmm, gotta get on the phone again for prices:001_rolleyes:
  20. Is the 550 at optimum performance with a 15"? For the very so slight weight difference I think I will go with the 560. The 550 isn't in Ireland yet if it ever will be. So for the sake of guarantees and service I might just have to go with the 560 anyway. Gives me more options bar wise anyway agree. Because it is handy to be able switch to a 20 sometimes.
  21. Is an echo cs60s a vintage. My grandfather bought it back in the 60s/70s(not sure)
  22. Now that is one thing that does my head in. Go to grab a saw and she cuts out. Causes a whole lot more yanking that shouldn't be needed lol.
  23. Forgot to mention in there also that I held a 560 today too and I hardly felt the weight difference at all tbh. Now that would defo have me covered. But I have no need in anything longer than the occasional 20" bar and the 550 or 346 is more than able for that.
  24. That 357 is impressive. .3 on a bigger bar:001_cool: More than likely firewood and forestry work I have rover 25 derv running 150bhp and its a serious machine:D I thought the pro series saws had upgraded cylinders and pistons? Held a 261 today and thought it was much bulkier than the 346. Didn't feel the weight difference though tbh.
  25. As long as the machine you work it off has enough bar/p output ya should have no problems I would think. He wants them cut but without noise. How daft will people get:001_rolleyes:
