  1. I think (a) naturally follows (b)
  2. Not excusing it Mick. Recognising it.
  3. I think you're spot on Gary! I had to dig back to a book I read recently and I'd like to share a passage from it. 2 reasons really, 1, because I think you're spot on with Boris and 2, that I think (if the extract is to be believed) many more of us than actually think so might share some psychopathic tendencies. Veronica: of the Chapman family, 2010, Freedom is more than just a seven-letter word, 2nd Ed, Milton Keynes, Tamare House. Chapter 5: Global Elites/Psychopaths "...I'll simply quotes ONE, verifiable, medical/genetic statistic: "One in every 25 people are born psychopathic." That's a quote from the studious works of Psychologist Andrew M. Lobaczewski. See his book Political Ponerology: a science on the Nature of Evil Adjusted for Political Purposes (1998). Since there are 4 x 25 in every hundred, this means 4 people in every hundred, or 4% of the total population are psychopathic. According to my arithmetic, and taking the population of the United Kingdom as 60 million people, that means there are 2,400,000 psychopaths out there. Does that mean 2.4 million 'axe murderers'? Well no, not exactly, as you will see, but it does mean that there is the potential for 2.4 million 'axe murderers'. Phychopaths-in-society tend to be much more subtle. (And get a heck of a lot further than axe murderers, as we will see). It all comes down to what a psychopath actually is. Put simply it is a person who has conscience. No compassion towards others. No empathy towards them. Unable to feel guilt, or shame. How does this occur? It occurs because of the lack of a gene in such a person's DNA. The gene that creates 'feelings towards others'..." The book is a fascinating read and the passage extracted above is only a snippet of the whole chapter which I found truly enlightening. On the off chance anyone wants a lend, I'd be happy to mail out so long as it comes back.
  4. I've got the front flail and have sometimes wished i'd got the side variant but I understand what you mention above.
  5. Are you perhaps cutting him a bit of a tough deal there Mark? Not disagreeing just for the sake of it (unusually) serious question... No doubt what he said could be (has been) described as tactless and crass, but is it disdain for human life? Those that are dead are already dead, those that aren't, well, they aren't. Are we better hand-wringing over those that have passed already (maybe if it leads to a change in the way such issues are addressed in the future) or are we better trying to look to the future. Or are we better just keeping the hell out of it - for better or worse?
  6. Hang on there.... What happened to: "...We've all been sat in the middle of the dead tops looking 20' to each side at the regrowth wanting to plunge a topper into our heart and end it all...." Have you been going out the house all kitted up, spent the day in the pub, then grabbed some random hedgerow greenery to stuff down your shirt before you get home......???
  7. Alright Mr E, I'll look at it another way.... He's been sipping Champagne and eating canapés today.... I had to get undressed outside before coming indoors because I was that clagged up with concrete dust.... He's cleverererer than me!! PS - barring the Queens speech thingy - I'd be a bit too close to a glass house to criticise him for the things you mention!!
  8. Stupid, Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson, isn't Mr E. Educated at Eton and Oxford, President of the Oxford Union, journalist with the Times, editor of the Spectator, London Mayor and Foreign Secretary.... Lest we forget, he had a cult like following as London Mayor - crowds chanting his name and I think it'd be a fairly safe bet that he WILL be PM one day. I doubt he actually says much without thinking it through fully beforehand. Some of what he says will not be popular with some people but with a CV like his, I also doubt he cares about trying to please all the people all the time. We all know that's just not possible!
  9. Have you used the side flail in the pic Richy or is it a screen grab? There's a discussion about flails here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/864020940410560/?ref=bookmarks
  10. That's quite clever... Like it! Bit confused though, is it pro or anti Boris...???
  11. I'm sticking with fell - replant with a nice Beech hedge.... I'm thinking there'd be more than enough time for a good Malt to finish before that happens.... Didn't want the OP / tree owner to think they could just leave it for council and be away without cost
  12. No, but it was a good debate!!
  13. Dhoooh! Moral dilemma! (1) Good man for highlighting and questioning the procedures - just as any public citizen might do.... (2) But idling on social media (unrelated to work activities) during working hours (unless it was lunch time?) (1) trumps (2) on this occasion!
  14. The underlying concept is quite accurate and forward thinking - just the kind of ‘progress’ that might bring longer term stability to the immediate, and broader, region. Stability, investment, economic prosperity, social development, education, healthcare etc... Yes, just like Dubai. If only the tribal / cultural / religious / geo-political interests could be overcome.... Concept - good. Delivery - not good! Its alright for minions to speak in blunt realities but I guess we should expect better from our international states persons? Prediction: May = +/- 2 years then, The Mog = >5years then, Boris.... (complete absence of Labour for the next 15 years is not by accident!)
  15. Could I add Gary: If they do-do (!) it themselves, they’ll use either (1) their in house team (2) their ‘arms length’ company (same as their in-house team but masquerading as a seperate company) or (3) a ‘preferred’ contractor - all of which are highly likely to be considerably more costly and (certainly for (1) & (2)) less efficient.... Then, they send the tree owner the bill.
  16. The superannuated space cadet from Islington! Legend!!
  17. Leylandii: "...Grows rapidly to 30m in any soil, then blows down..." Johnson & More. (2004.) Tree Guide - The Most Complete Field Tree Guide to the Trees of Britain and Europe. London: Collins Just saying loike....
  18. What's not to like? At £150 it's cheaper than a shed for the chickens....
  19. It happened with vacuum cleaners (so the wife tells me!) EU down rated the power and there was a big surge in buying the last of the old stock. What troubles me though, unlike a vacuum cleaner where there's little or no 2nd hand market, unless you buy the last of the old stock chippers and keep it / run it to destruction, this could have the potential to knock the bottom out of the 2nd hand market. Buy last of the old stock and keep it till the bolts fall out or buy compliant and retain a 2nd resale value.....?
  20. Brexit caused the armed struggle for independence in the Basque region which can be seen to have it's origins decades before??? There have been some pretty wild claims made around the Brexit issue, but, seriously.....? Perhaps best blaming the rain on Boris.....
  21. The footage is shocking and (should be) of great concern (and embarrassment) to the Spanish government and EU / democratic governments across the globe. Meanwhile, sympathy & membership of Euskadi Ta Askatasuna and the Basque National Liberation Movement take an unexplained serge.... Who'd have thought I'd ever be able to watch something forwarded by (Socialist Voice – the home of Hard-Left Socialism) and find myself in agreement.... What a 'progressive' world we live in...
  22. Nooo, I heard it first in the 1 April battery grinder thread
  23. Is anyone worried (or thinking about) Stage V regs when considering replacement chippers? Or considering the implications of the potential requirement for retro-fit of DPF to current / older models? Will this impact upon second hand values and should it be taken seriously now if about to purchase new by ensuring Stage V compliancy? Just watched a Forst product vid and they are advancing the significance of this issue. Will it, in the short term, predominantly affect urban areas where diesels emissions are more problematic - maybe present an opportunity for 2nd hand kit to be moved out to more rural areas where DE is less of an issue? https://www.dieselnet.com/standards/eu/nonroad.php Extract: Future. Stage V legislation commits the European Commission to produce two reports on future emission regulations for nonroad engines: By the end of 2018—An assessment of the possibility of adopting measures for the installation of retrofit emission control devices in existing, in-use nonroad engines. By the end of 2020—An assessment of further pollutant emission reduction potential, and the identification of potentially relevant pollutant types that do not fall within the scope of the Stage V regulation.
  24. Never let 'common sense' get in the way of political / religious fervour!
