  1. may be slow but worth the wait, but great job.
  2. My new (used) Lumbermate 2000 has arrived:thumbup: photos to follow.I am very pleased with it it has a load of extras but what I'm after is the gadget you get for milling feather edge boards,is there anyone out there that has one that they don't use and would like to part with? I don't know if it has to be a Lumbermate or would any make attatchment just bolt on to the bed. PS Thanks Dean for a great mill.
  3. When using the Lumbermate, ensure that you are on a very level surface as there is flex in the track, and it's easy to cut bent boards. Also, keep an eye on it as you load the logs, as the machine only weighs 750kg and an enthusiastic log loading can knock it off too.[/QUOT Thanks for the advice big j,did you have support legs on the one you used? the one I intend to get has 6 large lege on it and from what I've read about the 2000 is that it can be lowered close to the ground when in use, this should help with any flex in the track and if all else fails it will be down the blacksmiths shop and 2 rsj,s placed underneath:lol: There is also the price to consider a lot of mill for the price compared to a woodmizer plus the main agent for wales is only 30 miles down the road.
  4. Hi,is it fair to compare the 2000 to an LT40 surely it should be compared to a 15 or the 28 I have bought a lumbermate 2000,saying that not paid for yet I hope to take delivery end of next week and I honestly don't expect it to do the same work as the lt40 but if she can't compete with the lt15 I will be very disappointed.
  5. Thanks spud, but how did you know that I have the older metal handled chainbrake type,do I come across as a tight fisted git thats to mean to buy anything modern I will investigate later. Thanks again.
  6. The chain brake on my old 266 keeps engaging,I have tried to adjust but with no luck.Is it just old and worn out or is there anything I can do to cure this ?. Thanks.
  7. To be honest I just wanted to to build a mill I didn't fancy starting on a bandmill, a bit on the dangerous side with that blade flying round at x mph I felt safer near a chainsaw LOL.
  8. this is a bit of a learning curve I just wanted to see how this worked first,I intend to power one with a vertical shaft engine, either build a new carriage for this or try and sell as is and start a new one
  9. That's what I have in mind for the next project I have an enginer down the road that's happy to help all I need now is to sort the parts and finish this one:confused1:
  10. Thanks big j,its not finished yet I need to fit a 7ft extention walk way and safety rail log loading ramps jacks on each corner larger chainsaw lights finish the doggs and a ferrari on the ball hitch to overcome the lack of speed . probably loads more that I have not thaught of yet
  11. Just a few snaps of my ongoing project powered by a Husky 298:

  21. Keep up the good work Spud, there are loads of boys like me that dont run new saws or dont have the money for a new one.I bet if I took my old 298 and 266 both approx 30 years:thumbup: old to a maln dealer I would be laughed out the door:thumbup:
