Nice 1 yeah sat the cannon next to a Stihl bar n it's mega compared to it!!! Been milling with it today some knarly oak n seems its defo a winner!!! Only time will tell tho, I've got a cannon 14" carving bar n that's taken some stick n still a beast so, I'd give a kidney to fell a tree with a 50" bar!!! Sadly tho all our mega trees are all protected n I now work in the utility sector so only get to play with a 36" bar every blue moon :-(

Morning guys, just bought a cannon bar to try and combat warping bars has any1 got or used 1 for milling?? Any 1 know if there worth the money??

2x4 at 9ft long and yes been on about 2month ish, I've noticed more vibration through the system as its running along the plank also. Do you recon it's about time to renew my rail board?

Seems to start off ok then walks out, the bars 24" husky not had that much use really and the only rails I'm using are the rails that the mini mill runs on are there others ? I'm not back up at my yard till Monday now but I'll take some pics of the beams, may reset the running rails also

I can try uploading pics via the app but currently haven't got a pc, the best way for me to describe it is. I'm managing to cut beams that are 13" on the top face of the wood but the bottom face is more like 11, as if the bar is cutting deeper into the wood at the nose end than the end in the clamp, does that make sence lol??

Put brand new skip tooth on it so don't think so, I have the timber sat up on logs off the ground 2 so, I'll have to double check everything again 2morra :-(

Hi guys, right... Been running out oak and pine into beams with my mini mill, all come out great until today, can any1 shed some light on how do you ensure the saw bar cuts straight?? Hasn't been a problem until today, managed to cut odd shaped beams, the nose seems to be cutting 2 deep into the timber leaving me with 13" tops and 10" bottoms!!! Not a happy bunny, tried to re setup the saw in the clamp and it looked like it was going to cut flat but alas same has happened, any1 had the same issues?

I live 10min from Upton m8, if you can haul the logs to womersly from there that b Awsome!! Ill obviously pay for haulage + stems

Hi people right.... Iv got some cracking elm that I have slabbed down for legs for a rustic bench I'm making, stuck my fan dangled moisture gauge into it and it reads 10% moisture!!! Awsome!!!! But there's a problem, iv found no end of wood worm larva in it!!!! God dam!!! My question is,,, is it worth treating the legs for my bespoke garden benches or is it a lost cause???? And should I just burn the wood????? I have sanded 1 set of legs down just incase, they have come up amassing seems such a waste of wood but..... Any answers would b cool, I'm on fb as ginner ollie my benches are on there :-0

<p>Hello bud, tried ordering a few bits from chainsawbars.com, only I'm using my fone to send emails n everything due to my laptop being buggerd. I tried to order 36" rail/bar extension for the Alaskan mill, mini mill and the EZ rail system, and some how managed to order it twice and pay for it via PayPal, now I have had 1 refund, but on my account on chainsawbars.com it hasent come through that I've orderd anything, just wanting to know is my order still standing as my money has still been accepted or do I need to re order thanks, oliver</p>

I thank you rob d for the info, infact every1. I think I shall leave the yew on the back burner for now as iv just felled a few ash trees and oak in my friends wood.

Dellwood33 that link was very useful, thank you Ian I may endup making bowel and chopping boards then lol I'm quite glad also now that I was wearing a propper rubber Face mask whilest sanding down, cheers guys for all the help, I'm still quite new to milling and wood work, ill try get my computer fixed so I can post pics up of my benches, stuck using my iPhone tho for now

May sound like a daft question to ask to the veterans amongst us here but... Can u use yew timber for chopping boards in the household??? I have some off cuts of a beam that I'm using for bench legs and after sanding them down was amazed at the grain quality, would be a shame to waste the off cut really, can any1 help?

Hey guys, right I'm looking for the best type of timber treatment to cover my benches of yew that I milled back in 2010, and other up coming pine/oak and elm benches, iv read that linseed oil is good to preserve the grain and treat the timber, but what I don't know is what's good to weather proof the timber, so..... Can any1 point me in the right direction as to what to use? Or is the answer staring me in the face?? Any help would be greatly appreciated

Look good these bud!! I have a few ash n beech slabs stood drying ready to be made into chopping boards, was wondering what the best oil Finnish would be to pull the grains out like these?? Also how long have these been drying? Are they air dyed or kiln btw -
Hi guys looking for round timber stems upto 36" diameter round West Yorkshire pritty much any species bar pop or conifur!!! Just become the proud owner of an Alaskan mill :-), new to milling but looking to mix carving with garden benches etc have a few clients mainly family atm so looking for timber, can any1 help???

Hello bud I have a quick question, I currently have my ms170 appart trying to work out how to fit my new carving sprocket to the clutch housing???? There isn't a little nick in the 8tooth for it to sit onto the housing like on the original and was wondering if you had any advise as to what I mayb doing wrong? I'm totally new to carving but been a climber 6 years so kinda know my way round a saw
