  1. This doesn't just come over nite. My advice would be get with a company for a couple of years and observe the guys who can prune.
  2. Have u had enough mate?
  3. I will tell you after Christmas as I'm gonna buy a load of sshiny new bits for myself as treat
  4. Oh and my accommodation is payed for plus company van. I think most companies pay for your accommodation here. Don't need a visa, I pay my tax and stuff in the UK as the Swedish have to pay 33% tax ect
  5. Like u say it completely depends what firms your with. I'm with a really good one fortunately. U have to be careful which one u go with . Heard the Swedish companies take this pics with the English. Best to go with a Swedish company but owed and run by English. I got the job off arb jobs. Was quite fortunate as a lot applied for it there are companies on there at the min advertising for English climbers. The winter now and it's really harsh. If u read the post "frozen ropes" on here u will get an idea of the weather ect. That was my friend that made it who I work with. Tree wise it's nearly same as home just bigger. Depends which part of Sweden u go to but im in the middle ish so there is a lot of spruce, pines, massive birch, oak, aspens.....not that many ash as most of them have had it. Big elms but same as ash there nearly all out as well. Good thing is I haven't climbed a single tree yet with ivy on. Nice and clean. All we actually do is climb, very really have to clean up. Do a lot of council work so they clear it up. Haven't fed a chipped for over 5 months now If you do end up comin out get a good comfy pair of spikes u will use them a lot. Regarding if they speak English the answer is yes and very well. We can have full conversations with like 8 year old's. It's taught in school here so they are very good and they like to speak it. The older they are the less English they speak but you can get by very easy. I completely love it here climbing compared to England just coz the trees are bigger and better. Plus it's just so much more relaxed. Haven't got your boss breathing down your neck to get the job done asap coz he's under quoted it 0to beat other companies. ( does depend on company but think they are all chilled to be honest ).As there ain't really that much compitition in companies coz each one is so far apart. It's a really good experience and looks good on your cv Hope this helps a little more
  6. Most of use are subbies out here but get our digs paid for. This means hostels, hotels and anything else which is cheap. Would be nice for some where like that to dry rope instead of stinking my room out on the radiator ha
  7. P.s don't get the gay robocop visor just buy some good glasses or use a normal mesh visor ha
  8. Hey mate....I have one, had it about 11 months now. Absolutely love it . The fits perfect to your head. It's light and when you move your head it stays in position unlike the old petzl vertex I had. Admittedly it's a tad more sweaty in the summer months but the good thing is u can take the padding out and stick it in the wash instead of having to buy new hygiene kit . My friend has the new petzl and he really rates that. I would definitely give the thumbs up to getting one but this is only my opinion. Hope this helps
  9. What would you like to know mate about Sweden. Currently working here and have been for a while now. Could more and likely answer most questions or give it my best shot.
  10. -13 this morning. Bout to try my sj out as vt didn't work yesterday. Rope is warm but how long I don't know haha look on arb jobs mate there is few on the at the min. Most English climbers go home for winter I think. Were still here braving it out
  11. I will have a completely dry and warm rope tomorrow, I will let u know how long it lasts. Temp is gonna be around -11 so I'm guessing maybe a hour max then back to square 1. Having tantrums up the tree and asking myself y I'm actually here ha
  12. Yeah from Grimsby. I know Ben well, I do work for him when I go home from Sweden. And I worked for green cuts for a short while. If u know green cuts u will know why it was a short while. AA approved?? Pppfftt lifting council lime trees with pole saws is there speciality there. Didn't want my name associated with them so I left. What's your name?
  13. Funny you say that, I left mine in the van last nite. Tried climbing with it 2day and it really wasn't playing. Even had a tantrum up the tree....u know the sort or tantrum u had when u first started and couldn't do something or get out some where haha
  14. Nz Paul where abouts Sweden u working? We are around orebro area a lot. Doing commercial, rail and private. Getting cold now. Ropes are doing our nuts in. Vt is just unusable. Gonna take my rope to bed and warm it up and try my spider jack.
