  10. Nice carving Wisewood, lovin the two tone effect of that tulip wood
  11. Hi Peter, wood can be carved when its green but as the wood dries fibres will shrink and the carving may crack to relieve tightening of its core.

Think I might order a new set of AV rubbers & see if this clears things up!

    Echo CS280

Hi pulsar46, not sure why Echo Uk would tell you they can't get a 1/4" spocket for a 280 You should be able to pick one up from any Echo dealer! If you are having trouble locating one try Taylors tools Welcome to Taylors Tools — Taylors Tools as i know for a fact they stock them or can order one in for you. Hope this helps Gee

    Echo CS280

Hi all I bought a new Echo CS280WES in October 2012 & fitted it with a 1/4" sprocket & cannon carving bar. I service my saws & sharpen my chains on a regular basis so I'm sure it can't be down to using a blunt chain or a damaged saw. But after 30 mins of use I'm getting numb hands /white finger & have to put the saw down until I get feeling back. Is anyone else experiencing this? Do you think it could be down to the AV rubbers? Or because I've fitted the saw with a carving bar? Any help would be greatly appreciated Cheers Gee
  15. Hi crotch_hopper, the Echo 270 has a 3/8 set up, if you're fitting a 1/4" carving bar & chain you'll have to change the original 3/8 sprocket to a 1/4"
  16. Many thanks Steve Really pleased with the new hoodie, looks great, nice colour, logo & material + a super service from yourself! Top stuff!

I had the same problem with one of my saws, but a carb kit sorted it out! you can normally pick them up on e-bay for under £10
  18. Will do Dave, it was just an experiment so I'm anxious to see how it turns out also, but it's got a good coating of decking oil so fingers crossed it should be ok with a regular treatment. I agree. was thinking of something a bit more elaborate next time, definitely something with a feel of movement to it, just keeping my eyes open for a BIG bit of timber with my name on it
  19. I've seen a few people doing Meerkats recently so thought I'd give them a try. Made from Birch, all chainsaw, sanded & finished with decking oil.
  20. Thanks all I don't think I have any more production shots Alvin, I must remember to keep a camera handy! But when you're in the zone you don't always remember Haha well spotted Rooster I did go off the pattern on chainsawcarve.ca, many thanks for the free examples! I found it a great pattern to go off when carving my eagle I know what you're saying FriarsGorse I shouldn't get too attached & keep carvings but it would be good to look back in a few years and hopefully see how my carvings have progressed. But I'm sure you're right & I'll be running out of room before I know it Dave, all the colour was done by a darn good scorching & the base tones were achieved by slightly moistening the base & brushing in the burnt dust I'd just wire brushed off, left to dry & finished with decking oil.
  21. Nice variety of work MAB, really like the frog
