  1. hi mate , think i have found a guy local whos coming to have a look at doing it , thanks for all the leads guys
  2. Hi, we are currently working on the stiperstones removing around 100 ton on a clearance job in the gatten flush and we are running it out 400 mtrs to the nearest hard standing using a alstor minii forwarder with floatation bands . The Job will need a tractor based forwarder ( just wondering if there was anyone local ) to forward the timber 900 mtrs over the top of the stiperstones to roadside it will all be stacked in 3mtr lenghts and the track is hard standing all the way its just i could do it but it would be quicker to run a bigger unit with fewer trips , this would free my time to get on to the next project . Its a couple of days easy forwarding with stunning views ....... Also means i can keep my bands on . Give us a call if you think you can help cheers David 0781158920 or after 6.30pm 01299 400565 this job will need doing in about 4 weeks time
  3. register for a provisional liecence with callum rafaty at ay forest and go straight to assessment
  4. Our website is Home « Woodland Ways see what you think
  5. its all about the maintenance and good operation of the machine i have seen Alstors which have been abused and people wonder why they break down in my years i have had very few days which i have had down time and every job has been completed . Any piece of kit if you don't look after it will fail
  6. Have you actually looked at the specs of the new 821 , new Heavy duty bogie boxes in high tensile quality steel, New designed articulated steering joint , centred and protected pto shaft, articulated steering joint in high quality steel , increased load capacity 2500kg , better centre of gravity , hydraulic braking , hand brake on seat so follows you , reverse drive , use the crane with the accelerator , bigger crane base , 4.2 extention crane, increased ground clearance . anyway it sounds you have made your mind up about it so i will not carry on but i think you are so wrong and i look forward to seeing your posts about your new purchase it should be interesting , i hope you make the right choice because its alot of money even if you get 40% back on the price .
  7. Funny how everyone is raving about the kinetic when no one has driven it or actually ran one flat out for a season , Alstors have fifteen years of development / working in the forest . The price for the alstor i think is reasonable with the amount of work it can generate and the reliability and the small foot print it creates to enable you to work hard to access sites and sssi woodlands etc . You think because i run one i am biased when it comes to a these machines bit far from it if something came along and was better i would buy it , business is business but for seven years there is nothing better , Bison six wheel drive is not a patch on the alstor 821 i saw them in elmia , the kinetic made by country not a fan and most of it looks like a rip off of a alstor .... i don't want to be seen as a ranter but if you run a business and are going to to spend £40,000 plus new you want to think its reliable and proven machine . Anyway i will carry on making money with mine it works and the resale value is excellent when it comes to upgrade ....
  8. https://scontent-lhr3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xfp1/v/t1.0-9/12963810_473734189498791_2471476625946022124_n.jpg?oh=b2662164134194c6577d03ebb10b2ed0&oe=57B992AD have a look at the new 833
  9. I would be interested in buying if its still up for sale
  10. Alstor 3.8 with a 40 cm extention plus with bigger crane base will lift just under a ton
  11. how long is a piece of string. outputs depend on how the wood is presented and the terrain and how far to roadside . we tend to get the jobs where big kit can't get or make to much damage or the job don't justify haulage of the bigger machines our outputs just forwarding are between 25 to 40 tons a day . The good thing about having a smaller machine is when you are felling and forwarding , clearing as you go and also using the remote control winch to aid felling it makes it easy so you are not climbing over brash etc and everyday the site is clear so is especially good when working on foot paths or any high volume public area.
  12. thanks that was my old Alstor petrol version which is still being used in Scotland
  13. i fell and forward with the machine clearing as i go and also contract for extraction as well done this season just over 2000 tons , hire out the machine with operator for 350 a day plus vat .
  14. bought the new Alstor for £53,000 but that was with all the add ons i.e bigger crane , reverse drive , extenion back , joy stick controls and double pumped . no grant funding
  15. believe me i run a alstor 821 and it more than pays for itself and does the tonnages day in day out without compaction or need for racks or access tracks into woodlands , take a look at my website Home « Woodland Ways and look at my facebook page to see what can be achieved with small scale machinery.
  16. i have run a Alstor now for 6yrs and wouldn't be without one , easily copes with all terrain and a light foot print . the new 821 is a dream to drive and does 25 to 40 tons a day depending on extraction distances etc i is made for the job and i have never ran out of work
  17. That job was four and half days cutting and extracting 400 to 500 mtr haul to roadside, 150 cubic mtrs 60% ash and other hardwoods if you need some timber the owner is sellling it .
  18. All good i drove the old one for five years with no dramas but this one is a proper contractors machine , defo more stable but the whole machine has been redesigned its a beast.
  19. Just had my new alstor 8x8 delivered what a differance , reverse drive , new protected shafts, new bogie set up , bigger crane and 22 cat diesel engine .
  20. Mark councill just bought my old alstor he is based in inverness
  21. Farma g2 drive trailer 14 ton is a good sound trailer, used nathans of home forestry alot on sites the drive is excellent and the 8.5 mtr crane is fluid with the electronic joy stick controls give him a call
  22. contact home forestry they run a 901 valmet thinnings forwarder really good contractor
  23. New price for the machine ideal, starter machine for small woodland management see arbtrader for full advert .
