  1. It doesnt bother me in the slightest if its called a truck or a van, ive ran 3500kg for ten years ahnd have always called them vans, so my iveco has followed suit being called the work van
  2. And an Iveco 4x4 is an Iveco 4x4
  3. Just insured mine with Trust Insurance. Ask for Mathew Fenton and tell him i sent you Good luck
  4. Lift it and thin it, will make a huge difference IMO
  5. They were heavily pitted due to it standing SORN in sunny Glasgow, well not far from Glasgow anyway. IVECO have sent them off to see if they will honour us a good will gesture as the truck only has 16,000 km on her... Im not holding my breath though Some good news came today, the truck went to the paint shop at 5am this morning and is ready to collect on Thursday mid-morning.
  6. Ive got one that i hire out, its a wallenstien 910 but im in northumberland between newcastle and hexham
  7. She passed! ......with a bill of £3k to go with it
  8. Its my VOSA re-test tomorrow ...fingers crossed
  9. Do you know where the winch is from and a price on it? Also it's pulling power? Cheers
  10. Canter has gone mate, its down near Luton now. It went to a real nice lad who's gone from a 51 plate tranny so good move for him too
  11. Can you send me a link to the tool boxes please, I am converting the crew cab into a tool store and will have boxes on the underside of the tipper for gear too
  12. I think the CAnter was and is a great truck but, not cut out for tree work. Being loaded up day in day out I really think something a bit more gutsy is needed. Especially as some of our tip sites are mud baths!!
  13. If my canter went on a course of steroids...
  14. My canter had a capacity of 11 cubic meters but without barn doors i could only get aprox 7 cubic meters on, so although this chip box looks a lot smaller (which it is) it will hold 7.5 cubic meters I will be able to fit it to the tits, ill get some pics of the tipping gear and the back doors with 2 ft tailgate. I was having problems with where to put my big ladders and steps but John Robinson has come up with a great way to access the roof...... watch this space
  15. I saw you on Thursday in Sunnyside mate, where do you tip off? As I was having to travel to UFAMS from Marley Hill
  16. Sorry if that came across a big harsh mate, its just been a nightmare lately
  17. Winch is a real nice touch but having 4 extra brash monkeys in the back will make light work of jobs
  18. Please don't think for one minute I have gone into this with no research my friend, and for your info I should not have got a mog A Mog would not have suited my needs that is why I bought what I have, I have been in this game long enough to know which vehicle I need for my work as I am sure you do for yours
  19. John Robinson Truck Bodies at Blaydon on Tyne, I can not recommend them enough! What a great set of lads
  20. As you all probably know Stephen Blair was selling his IVECO 4x4, we I bought it! Cheers Stevie lad! I will post some pics of when I bought it and through the journey of getting it ready for some serious tree abuse! Up until the time of purchase I had ran 3500kg vans for ten years, and as all of you running 3500kg vans I was probably overloaded most days I had thought of going to a larger capable vehicle for a number of years but I thought going legal would be a huge headache, and I was rite. What a nightmare it has been and still is. First off I bought the IVECO 5500kg and the sale and finance went swimmingly, I knew I needed an operators license but didnt really understand the tacho thing, nor did I know that I needed a drivers card, business driving card, need to have it collaborated every two years. It turns out that in Forestry/Horticulture and Fisheries can get a restricted O license which will allow them to operate within 100km of their operating base, or if you only carry your own goods you can operate within a 50km radius of base without tacho rules, phew! I thin I fall into both of those categories so what I have done is printed off the info from the VOSA website and laminated them and put them in the van so if Mr VOSA does give me the pull I have everything to hand. With everything in place I sent the van for its MOT as it was sorn since Jan and had run out, too it along to VOSA and it failed on rear brake shoes and drums as they were heavily corroded due to it standing since Jan in bonny Scotland (Hallelujah for Scotish weather)!! Oh and it needed a track rod end. So took it back down to Iveco in Newcastle and they got some prices together hmmmmmm £1500 = VAt for parts alone! So obviously they have to done so went ahead and ordered them only to find out the track rod end had to come from Australia, the drums from Germany and the shoes from Italy!! Now I am thinking is buying this van the worst decision of my business life...??? Well I cant back down now I have to ride this baby out, during this time I was going through the spec of my tipping body with the body builders. Luckily Iveco and the body builders and literally 2 mins from each other because it has been passed from one to the other more times than I like to think of. Anyway, this brings me to today. Brake drums and shoes and track rod end are being fitted on night shift tonight and going for the re test on Monday mid morning, ally tipping body is on and all is good. I have been working for the last two weeks with my Hi-Lux and ifor tipping trailer, taking chipper to the job then coming back and taking the trailer and the other way round at the end of the day, god this has been a hard two weeks. All the lads have been working their nuts off in the blistering heat and still having late finishes most nights not to mention I am going through about 2 tanks of fuel a week in the hi-lux!! So by monday I will have my operators license, tacho collaborated, drivers card (not that I need one), MOT, Tax, new rear brakes, new ally tipping body and a headache, from the Mot station it is going to the paint shop and from there finally to the sign writers and eventually it will make it to my only 3 weeks overdue! Would I do this all again...? Course I would!
  21. Great video mate, ive just bought a 150 today and think its mint for pruning and reduction work
  22. I have requested 12 weekly checks and think ill get it as im going for restricted too Also if you work within 100km (62 miles) of your opperating centre you are exempt from tacho rules as long as you are carrying your own goods to do with your work and fall into the catagory forestry/horticulture/fisheries. Also you are exempt if you work within 50km (31 mile) of your opperating centre and your train weight does not exceed 7.5 ton
