  1. I think oldwoodcutter's system could catch on. I've just been out knocking on doors. It's a rather taxing four Dave journey to the co-op, but to my delight the Duck and Badger is only three Peter's from my front door.
  2. Interesting unit of measurement. Presumably if another Mike moves into the area the radius will be even smaller!
  3. He's got you bang to rights there Kev. Argue your way out of that one!
  4. Spare a thought for poor old Jacob Rees-Mogg. He can't even keep track of the changing centuries.
  5. I think Commando raised this issue too, just to give him his dues!
  6. Unfortunately most people aren't willing to make sacrifices to pass on a healthy planet to future generations. We need to be forced to do it. Unfortunately this comes down to governments, and they don't want to deliver the bad news. Countries will have to work together on this if we are to turn things around. This is the main reason why I find this nationalistic trend so depressing.
  7. If you mean population growth, that is a much more complex problem to solve.
  8. This is the future. If we get it right the benefits will be immense.
  9. I think we need both left and right to stop either side from going 'far'.
  10. ... the ill considered trip to the dancefloor ends in crippling social angst as you realise you have absolutely no idea what to do with your appendages. Cue the 'hilarious exagerated dance moves of the ages' cover routine, followed by the strategic boogie to the edge of the floor, followed by the mock confident stride to the bar, reminiscent of a man totally at ease with what just occured.
  11. No way! Next you'll be telling us you've found something vaguely worth reading in the parish newsletter.
  12. ... the 'best way to cook roast potatoes' conversation becomes rivetting. ... you assume your host will be itching to hear which roads you travelled on to get to them. ... you find yourself saying "Oooof" for no good reason when you get out of a chair.
  13. Backbone? I think you'll find it was invariably frontbone.
  14. Sounds great, I just looked it up. Will definately have a read. Thanks for the tip
  15. Agreed. Certainly not wisdom! The picture was just a bit of fun. I think maybe it was taken a bit too seriously.
  16. There is a big misconception around meditation, and particularly mindfulness meditation (the form most commonly practiced in the West). It's often thought of as some kind of trance state that seperates you from normal experience. It is actually the opposite. Mindfulness meditation connects you more fully to internal and external stimuli, making you much more aware of what is going on, not less. Becoming more aware of these stimuli and understanding how they arise can greatly increase the quality and authenticity of everyday experience. With practice you can focus in much more on what is actually occuring, rather than on the (often false) narrative we construct about things.
  17. Do you not find that trailer a tad frustrating for mulch deliveries?
  18. Yes, I would pretty much agree with that. There are many different levels of awareness though.
  19. Silly me! Thanks for pointing that out Rough Hewn. You may be surprised. Meditation is a multi faceted and remarkably deep discipline. It can help you understand the bizzare workings of your own mind, and bring you into closer contact with the true nature of 'reality'. If that's not wisdom, I don't know what is.
  20. Looks fantastic. You really should be charging more Steve.
  21. Hmmm. Another missing budgie. Felix, can you account for your movements please.
  22. I was in the 'only just about worth helping' class. If memory serves me right, you were in the class below.
