  1. We plant soft wood in tubex shrub shelters about 2ft tall but a lot wider. And hard wood in 4 to 6 ft tubes depending on what bloody dear species is in the area. Or nets with canes if no deer about
  2. What time of year do you rub cricket bat willows? Cheers
  3. I use a husky ultra vision visor on my vertex vent fits fine for me it's the helmet that's too big I need a sweatband to keep it in place.
  4. I would Stubby but I don't have the saws. Trying to decide what to get.
  5. Hi, does anybody know what the actual cutting length is on a ms261 14" and 16" Also a 550xp on a 15"? I'm still torn between what saw and length to go for. Thanks

    Oil setting

What do you guys recommend on the oil adjustment for an 18inch bar on a 500i? I'm getting two tanks of fuel to one fill of oil at the moment on near minimum setting.
  7. Oregon bars and chains unless Rob d has sugi light bars in. Sthill and husky bars and chain I noticed no difference for added cost. Rototech maybe OK for surgery or domestic user but not in the woods. Sthil 500i 18inch to 24 inch sometimes use a 16 inch but it does try to kill you. Anything else up to 60cc on a 15 inch bar. Full chisel of course... this is forestry not floristry 😀. If a homeowner would go with semi chisel however.
  8. Bugger me I ment this year/ now whoops.😆
  9. Looking for rough prices for saw logs and chip roadside. In the Midlands. Cheers

  11. Need a new baby saw for 1st thinning. Had 550s before but fancy a change. What do you chaps reckon?
  12. Had a couple of l200 s, Now running a Suzuki sx4 with insa turbo 50/50 tyres. Dog in the back with toolboxes, seats folded up. Roofbox on top to carry the 362 ,500i and fuel . Forestry work only plant, oak pruning and felling. This is the way.
  13. 35p cane and spiral last year. 3 miles long did ok on that. Steak and tube planting a wood £150 +. Again ground and access will change a lot
  14. ??
  15. Thanks, its 1.5 hp and 5.7cfm
  16. Thanks guys, 25lt ok?
  17. Hi all, Is a 6lt air compressor enough to clean a saw? Would only be used for that and truck tyres etc. Not power tools. Cheers.
  18. Thanks stihl123 may go for the 18 I ch then as that is what I have used and I like a small bar Got a 562 good saw with 15 or 18 inch. Used 500i game changer. Just orderd one and was wondering if the nose would blow under all that power
  19. Speed, agility, weight, quicker to sharpen
  20. Wondering if a ms 500i would blow the nose of a 16 inch bar or should I stick with an 18 inch. Cheers
  21. Does anyone know if my msa earmuffs and visor would go straight onto a ct x arbpro helmet? Or does it have different fittings? Cheers
  22. Howdy, My vertex vent although has 5 yrs of life left never really fit (with both thick and thin sweat bands taped together and a John McEnroe head band on to boot), the side adjusters just dont stay in place. I also fancy the vizir as stuff gets in my eyes with an ultra vision visor. Originally chose the vertex for lightweight and ventilation ( I cut the chin strap off as Forestry only) Any recomendations? Cheers
  23. Thanks. I'm assuming that's how a lot of weight goes missing. Being a hand cutter and waiting an age for weights?. Shame I cant get a stack measure.
  24. Hi guys, do all timber hauling lorries have scales to check the weight? Cheers
