  1. Hi all. Does anyone know of any systems that heat water by running water pipe (backwoods and forwards) through a tank of woodchip to heat the water, much like a ground heating system, using the heat of the composting woodchip or with the same sort of tank but using the steam produced to turn a turbine to produce electric. i have only just heard of such things but can't seem to find much about them as most people burn woodchip and that has to be of a certain grade
  2. being out side, working with my brother, keeping fit without having to go to the gym and seeing women in the shower through their window. god i love this job!!
  3. german wire haired pointer called murdoch. don't take him to work much as he is to hectic to have in the van all day as i do mostly domestic jobs at peoples houses. good dog just lots of energy
  4. My Brother and I have our own company but we do sub contracting if any one needs climbers, we are willing to travel a reasonable distance. Both with over 7yrs experiance. Cheers
  5. I would arrange a meet with the TO and client, you probably wont be aloud to reduce the tree and so a thin will be the comperise offerded by the TO, make sure this is made clear to the client before quoting. I recently quoted to reduce a Beech that the cleint said she had permission to do, later found out my old boss had quoted to thin it as she had got confused with the percentages given thinking a 30% thin meant the the tree would be smaller. hope this makes sense

Fat Loggy Rad op for 7 1/2 years been out for 10 years doin trees with my bro for 7 yrs some i've nearly been a fat logger for as long now. most of my time was done in Gutersloh, Germany. 2 tours of Bosnia, 1 UN in Cyprus and 1 1/2 tours of Kosovo. RLC..... Ricashaw's, Lorries and Cabs at your service sir!! Fat Boys on Tour. Altough i'm in better shape now than i was when i was in, prob the amount of beer drank and all the skiveing
  9. got the tree down to a pole, had my rope over a shallow fork. came downa few feet and pulled the pulling rope up to tie it on, put the pullingrope round the trunk and tied it with a timber hitch. put my weight back in my harness and my rope had come out of the fork. my fault for not having my strop around but " last cut of the day" syndrome, i thought i had finished the tree and switched off. earnt me a brusied brain, a trip in an ambulance that i can't remember and night in hospital. but ok in the end.
  10. I fell about 25 ft off a Beech tree i was taking down. Wasn't free climbing but apart from a bump on the head and sore shoulder i had no injuries as i got into the parachute landing postion, feet and knees squeezed together, arms and shoulders forward and chin on chest. Though this might come in handy for anyone free climbing not very well.
  11. depends on the size of the tree and the distance and type of limbs. If the tree is as you have drawn i would do the top of the crown in 1 big hit and then try to go down in layers to avoid the up and down as much as possible as this is the most tireing part of climbing. sometimtes your rope is at funny angles but use the tree and your strop to help. if the tree is huge with several limbs then do a limb at a time, even better get 2 people up the tree this saves the up and down and the funny rope angles you more than halfs your time in the tree.hope this makes sense and helps
  12. i can do that! not!!! don't know how to put the youtube video on here but next time your on youtube look at "russian ninja" some bloke doing free running, brilliant vid worth a watch

  14. can i choose Ivy, I hate IVY!!!!!!
  15. hard to tell with out seeing the trees first hand but you got the job done on all3 counts so fair one, i would have liked to see the first tree up close as on here it looked pretty dodgy. on the widow maker you could have had some ropes on to pull it away from you when you cut it and they might help to pull it out of the tree after you have cut it if it get hung up, saves you scrating round but i wasn't there so can't say for sure. keep going mate you haven't got as far on in life as you say you are with out looking out for your self
  16. me and my brother have our own company in Leek near Stoke on Trent. Not got much work at the mo so any thing would be good if your not all in the same boat. got about 8 yeras experience each. Cheers
