  1. Cheers Dean, Multi-tool was waiting when I got home last night. Thank you.
  2. Great cause, just threw my hat in the ring. A great achievement, well done to all. Happy New Year.
  3. I've had a Handol 51L for 3 years now and can really recommend it, very efficient. I'm currently burning a mix of Leylandii, cedar and oak and the house is roasting. We getting an extension built and planning on fitting a Contura 550 or 580.
  4. Try the most westerly point on the UK mainland - Ardnamurchan and the beautiful Sanna Bay if it's isolation and tranquility you want.
  5. Not quite up to that standard, but definitely agree the Fiskars axe makes all the difference to an old heavy splitting maul. It really makes the job a pleasure, just watch your toes / shins!
  6. Steve, I think you've nailed it there. Have one really good story involving you both that you know off pat. Don't make anything up or tell porkies and you'll be fine. Good Luck.
  7. I love this site, what a fantastic thread, well done to everyone concerned and hopefully the turn around Predator needs.

    Next Saw?

Cheers Guys, I have both Stihl and Husky delears close by and yes I have all the PPE, wouldn't think of using a saw without it. I may stick with Stihl as I've had no probs with the wee MS181.

    Next Saw?

I've currently got a MS181 and it's perfect for what I intended ( feeding the stove and general garden work) but recently I've been helping friends and neighbour out and it's just not up to the job, So, I was thinking a new saw is required -- MS 261 or 346xp. Need some help / advice deciding.
  11. Update - used some Stove Rope/Glass Glue to stick the glass back together - worked a treat and now got the stove back up and running - very hot and glass still holding.
  12. Hi, had mine about a year now, paid about the same although the s/s flue up the outside of the building cost more than the stove. Absolutely love it, more than halved the gas bill! Gives out great heat and very efficient. Currently burning a mix of oak and Leylandii, well I was until I broke the fecking glass! Handol - Highly recommended.
  13. Cheers Steve
  14. Was it ceramic glass?
  15. Hi guys, being a prat :stupido3:this morning I managed to crack the glass on my wood burning stove. It's a Handol 51L and the glass is cracked and split on the bottom left corner, a bit about the size an egg is ready to drop out. So can I just glue it back on using ??? and continue using it or will I have to replace the glass. I think it's 4mm ceramic glass.? Anybody else managed to break their glass and if so what's the best solution and how expensive is it likely to be? Cheers
  16. Beavers, no doubt about it.
  17. Hi, Have you got the MS181 Workshop manual?
  18. fantastic - did he live?

    Ms181

Chilli, When I looked at it last night it did seem that the part of the switch assembly that clicks down in the choke position (cold start) was sticking slightly when it was in the warm start postion and this was stopping it moving to idle when the trottle was blipped. All plastic parts, so WD or a wee bit of grease. Worth a try!

Cheers Spud, I'll leave it 'til the weekend and have another look, probably more trouble than it's worth. Snoko

I just had a wee look, the metal retaining hook moves back when you blip the throttle but the flat plastic plate it releases does not move down sufficiently to allow the switch to flick up to the idle postition. I didn't take the filter housing off, but think this maybe necessary to really see what's happening - is it going to be worth it when I can just flip it up with my thumb? Looks like 2 x 10mm nuts and 2 x T20 screws to remove the filter housing. Is it liable to spring apart? All part of the learning process I suppose!

Cheers Spud, Fair comment, I'll take a look and see what's what. Hope it's easily fixed. Snoko

14" - just got it for firewood and garden clear up etc. Been using it every weekend since I got it, very happy with it for it's size, really light and easy to handle. Just this wee niggle with the master switch not flipping up to idle when I hit the trottle.

Cheers Mate, Got a small problem with the master switch not jumping from 3 (Warm Start) to 2 (idle) when the throttle's blipped on start. Not really a prob as such, as I can just flip it up manually, but it's annoying !
