  1. I've been pondering milling for a while now, it's not often that we do tree work and hence we don't generally come across decent trunks. Having recently taken down a Cherry for a customer I'm keen to mill what I managed to save. I don't currently have a yard either, so storing timber in decent amounts is not something I can do at the moment So, what I'd really like to know is, is my day dream of milling/storing and selling in the future or preferably making items for sale a possible source of income? Is it viable or just another one of my good ideas that will never be I've got a few people keeping their ears and eyes open for a friendly farmer in my area, someone with a plot of land/woodland I could use for storage etc. I'd like to be able to offer milling as a service and also a means of disposal for local tree surgeons rather than tipping/logging for firewood What say you folks.
  2. I'd also like some advice on the type of bar and chain best suited to the Dolmar for milling please :-)
  3. Hi folks, I've been wanting to buy a mill for sometime now and as always this is the place to find my answers I have a fairly decent Dolmar currently with a 20" bar. From what I've seen it can take up to a 24" bar, I just wondered if anyone would advise going to a 36 or is it likely to kill my lovely old Dolmar. I'm also thinking of buying the Alaskan Mk3 mill, probably the 24" or 36" if I can still use it with the smaller bar etc. Thanks
  4. Many thanks Dave C
  5. Fair point Craig, I've been set on C's for ages, then changed my mind again. I see the C's are only little more in the Sip's so I'll certainly look into them.
  6. Hi folks, I'm after a pair of type A trousers and as price is a concern for me I'm looking at the SIP Innovation 2 at the moment for £155. Anyone got any reasons why I shouldn't get them? I'm not a daily climber and they will probably only see about a weeks worth of hard work a year. Thanks

    200T mystery...

Saw24 I hope you don't mind me jumping in on your thread, but we've almost got the same issue. Mine seemed to run ok once warmed up, revs out seemingly ok until I try a test cut, then it dies I've checked my H/L settings, L was set to 1 and H to 1.5 When I fire her up and connect my tachometer she's screaming at around 1400 flat out, but again it dies a death when cutting. I stripped the carb the other week and everything seemed clean etc, I to seek the advice of Spud Any tips folks, a youtube video to help on checks would be greatly appreciated. I've got a number for a local repair man but would rather learn to fix it myself if possible

    Tip sites

Hi folks, if anyone knows of a decent tip site close to Dartford, please pm me the details
  11. Hi folks, I'm looking at a Stihl leaf blower for sale in Chatham Kent. I smell a rat and suspect both blowers are nicked. If I can get the serial numbers, is there anyone I can call to check them?
  12. Many thanks guys :-)
  13. Hi chaps, I'm fixing up an ms200t at the moment and there's something wrong with the starter assembly. The cord is only a foot long and I'd like to know what the correct length should be.
  14. Many thanks :-) Shocking prices though, I think I'll look into making these myself.
  15. It's long been an ambition of mine to build Treehouses profesionally for a living, whilst I doubt there would be enough work, it's still something I dearly want to do. I've been watching the TV show "Treehouse Masters", once you've gotten over the irritating American production, what they achieve is quite something. I've been a little bored today and started hunting out supplies and techniques. I'm not doing very well to be fair I'm struggling to find any UK suppliers of TAB's and brackets. Can anyone help please, I'd also love to know if there is a decent forum out there somewhere dedicated to Treehouse construction.
  16. Many thanks guys, I thought there might be a few alternative's to £10 a can :-)
  17. Hi folks, has anyone used this for cleaning up tools? Is there another product I could look into, cheaper
  18. Many thanks guys that's most helpful, I shall head off to the shed with renewed vigor
  19. Hi folks, I finally got myself an MS200 to repair, sadly it turned up in bits so I'd like to check the assembly of the break parts out. It had a broken insert (dog bone) I'm fairly confident on putting it all together but I could use a decent picture to check if anyone can help.
  20. Yes, I can't think of any myself either. Guess it's a cheap bottle of plonk from Screwfix for tonight then ;-(
  21. Hi folks, just running through my checklist of must have stuff for this evening and noticed I'm out of engine oil Do any of the DIY stores sell the small Stihl oil bottles?
  22. Hi folks, I've been asked by someone if there are any suppliers in the Rainham area, could someone recommend a firm please. Customer is looking for decent hardwood for a log burner. Thanks
  23. Morning folks, someone just posted this on FB and I'd like to know what damage this person might cause a tree.
  24. He sounds like the sort of person that shouldn't be using a saw You can lead a horse to water etc
  25. Good I was just looking at the 5 liter on the auction site, around £26 delivered. Is that good value? It seems it as I've seen the single shots at nearly £20 for 10x100ml
