I think mine is about £36 a year

Presumably you need insurance through the BMFA ????
I am not insured through the bmfa but I am a member & insured by another company. If you not doing paid work there is no requirement to be insured or notify anyone of your activity.

Yes, your box was full. I would blame my computer, however that would not be fair!
Take care.

Lol it's got some space now

Computers have saved time, to a point reduced stress levels for myself and my working life. Sometimes business life seemingly could be easier with out computers, however short of a total failure of the internet computers and new technology will be with us for some time to come.

Did you try to send me a message?

Good stuff!
I've had the AR Drone for a couple of years but found the picture stability can be a bit poor. It's the way ahead!
Did you use a gimbal? My first drone did not have one & I had the same problem I now use a gimbal with 3 motors that keep its stable I've got a little problem with the anti interference board that's why the film has lines going across it think I may have sorted it just need to test it.

To confirm i am reading this correctly, will you be able to fly this just from looking in a screen at the gopro footage?
Yes you can it displayed in an iPhone iPad etc.. Or with googles/glasses but you need to have another person with you if you use googles to watch your back.
-
have you got your pilots licence to fly it
You don't need a pilots license to fly it but you need to be approved by the CAA if your flying above 400ft flying the drone over 500m horizontally away (keep it in line of site) flying around members of public.
Also if your getting paid you need permission from the CAA.
There are lots of rules & regs.
But I do have my PPL but this would not count.

It's a mounted gopro on a Zenmuse H3-2D gimbal. I don't have a screen on the ground so flying by the eye. I plan to upgrade so I can

First flight in a confined space with a bit of a side wind.

Very cool I've got the same drone with a gopro. I've taken a few films not of much just mucking about but I am going to take it on some jobs next week & see how it goes.

is it on the plate the covers the top roller ,in an arc shape
Yes it is
-
Mine does not jam up in the little gap where the roller moves up & down its at the top hard to explain will up load a picture in the week
-
Didn't know there was a top roller upgrade, on my machine as part of routine checks always check/clear any rubbish that builds up round top roller/ bearing area. if left to build up machine doesn't grip stuff! If kept clean no problems. Did get free drive upgrade for better track speed about two months after I got machine even though speed was fine to me.
Yes I keep it clear (every 20 min or so) once it's clear its fine (for 20 min)
-
Ian yes it's been done on its first visit back to them.It is now worse.
Yes you are correct the chipper is a good machine & I new the risk of there being a few problems with it as being a new machine/design but they have know my problems for the last year & it's still not sorted. I am don't want to sound like I am having a dig at redwood/Forst but there becomes a time when you spend more time fixing/sending back/ phoning them than you do chipping. Should stuck with my 15 year old pto quickchip lol
-
No it's the top roller blocking up so it stays up & stops it grabbing the timber I know on other machines this happens but you stick a big bit in & it clears but not in this case it just stays open did have some pictures will upload when I get home.
The thing that get me is when the top roller drive snapped they came out & fixed it they said yes we know this is a problem we have changed it so it will not happen again. Then 8 months later the bottom one went so my point is as they new it was a problem why did they not change the bottom one at the same time? Oh no that would have been common sense. Lets cost our customer another day.

I was really hoping its was just teething problems but I've had over a year now. I have spoken to about 20 owners & I would say 30% have had a trouble free time & love it but the other 80% have had a major issue at some point but about 60% of them have not had any problems after that. Every time I phone redwood and ask to talk to the service dept all I get back sorry they are busy/on the phone etc & they will call me back after a couple of days I have to call back. This is not the service I was expecting from redwood.
When the chipper is working & not blocking up its great but when you spend more time unblocking it than chipping it gets a bit frustrating!
-
Mine is number 39 out of the factory & I've had no end of problems
Top roller drive snapped
Bottom roller drive snapped
Top roller blocked within 10min of chipping happens about 20 times a day
Fuses kept blowing
Axel bent due to wrong size wheels
I could keep going but I've wasted to much of my life on a Forst!
Was told by Forst to run on half speed to stop it blocking up!
It's been back to them twice & it still blocks up! Would talk to them about it but they never get back to me.
I will NEVER spend another penny with redwood!

Hi had a ford connect van was supper reliable & not bad on the fuel. The big problem was that the seat gave me a real bad back I think this was due to having a bulk head & could not move the seat much. I've got a vw caddy it's been ok on reliability drinks fuel but is quick.
I would recommend you get a van with the side door as it makes it easier to load/unload

If you can wait another week or two Arbortec will have breathflex out in the hivis Orange & yellow ;-)

Fincham any good?
-
Also do you still get the full warranty if it's a hire machine? I've seen this before on other bits of kit but not sure on chippers eg 3 year warranty reduced to 1 year.
