  1. nice, hope my assessor does that, dont like being watched when im doin things, makes me really conscious of every move, altho it probably instills abit of fear too which always helps hone you in on the task in hand
  2. weird, wonder if they just pick and choose what each person does. got the assessment tues, did pretty well thru the training, obviously messed up like everyone does from time to time, hope the assessment goes to plan!! i guess as long as im safe etc it'll be fine!
  3. does anyone know why/when the teaching of snedding changed? Learnt in the course this week about snedding but the method that we learnt from what was in the book and wat we were told is different from the afag 303 guidelines? I know this is probably a geeky question just wondered why it would have changed!!
  4. doin it at writtle college with steve woodley, i did my 30 with him and he was patient and knowledgable, exactly wat i needed cos id never held a chainsaw before!

  8. ah lovely cheers! was a beast of an oak! i loved the 'tree' ident on it too, was tempted to carve a '?' after 'tree', that'd confuse ppl!
  9. obviously co-ordinates but why would they be on an oak in a nearby county park?
  10. had a trial day with a local firm friday, was brilliant! got on well with everyone, listened to everything i was told, took on board all the advice i was given, all in all well happy with the day just thought id share that!
  11. do love a clove hitch, but which variety? standard, quick release or self constricting? i prefer the self constricting if its under load
  12. I downloaded 'leafsnap' earlier, an iphone app that lets you identify a tree or plant from pictures on the database. however I didnt realise that it is an american app so pretty much all the trees, shrubs etc are american. Does anyone know if there is a similar app solely for UK trees as I cant seem to find any!
  13. cheers for clearing that up bob, thought it was the case but didnt know for certain! gonna be a long way off til i can afford it but reckon itll be a good one!
  14. was just researching licenses etc and saw this on the dvla website, didnt realise that u can actually tow wen driving a 3.5 ton vehicle aslong as the combined weigh doesnt exceed 3.5 ton on the catergory of license ive got! http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/DriverLicensing/CaravansTrailersCommercialVehicles/DG_10013073

  16. ive been giving it more thought and I probably will just save the cash and do the 38. Odd question i know but is it essential to have the 31 before doin the 38 or not? Im booked on to do the 31 so it dont matter either way I was just curious. the 38 looks like a good course, Im a rock climber anyway so making the step to tree climbing seems like a pretty good transition

  20. it was definitely helpful thanks mate. just tryin to guage what my best course of action is, stuck in the good ol' cache 22 at the moment of needing experience but not being given the opportunity to gain that experience so am tryin to get whatever certs i can afford under my belt in order to make me stand apart from other job applicants
  21. tennis elbow can also be caused by referred pain from problems in your shoulders (Supraspinatus Muscle), or the teres major muscle, located just above the armpit! Have a look at this link, its got explanations of the different pressure points and trigger points you can manipulate in order to loosen the tension in the muscle and therefore eliminate the pain that may be getting confused with tennis elbow. Obviously thats not to say that a tennis elbow pain ISNT caused by repetitive work or climbing etc but it does provide some alternative exercises etc, worth bearing in mind before going down the steroid injection route, NEVER a good idea http://www.pressurepointer.com/PressurePointerManual.pdf
  22. Evening all, as some of you may have seens from other posts that I put up I am a complete newb (cant even get a job in hte business yet), but am trying my ass off to get into it! Got the Cs30, doin Cs31 on 22nd june, got all PPE, completely first aid trained and hold a full clean UK driving license. But thats enough about me, the actual point of this post is to ask whether you all think that it is worth me doing the PA1 (Pesticide Application) course to better the chances of employment? I would go to do more chainsaw courses but money is an issue at the moment so cant afford to shell out £800 on the CS32 OR the £705 for the CS38! Thankyou and goodnight
  23. wow still no luck, really hoping gettin the cs31 ticket will up my chances!!
  24. sweet, im lookin forward to it, gotta wait til june to do it thou which is a shame. got the first few cuts perfect on the cs30, for the first time with a saw i was feelin pleased with myself. cant wait to see what felling a tree feels like!
