Currently have no experience but am signed up for a CS30 Chainsaw Maintenance & Cross-Cutting (NPTC) course with Writtle College (18th and 19th Oct with Assessment date on 25th Oct). I have my own chainsaw boots but currently no other equipment due to lack of money! Plese feel free to PM me or email [email protected] Cheers all!!

  4. what is the verdict on the Cofra Force Class 1 Chainsaw Boots? The description sounds impressive but has anyone got anything good or bad to say about them cos obviously i dont want to waste my money
  5. cool thanks alot Darren, loving how helpful everyone has been so far!!
  6. and also, while your attention is on this thread, ive looked at F R Jones and Son as instructed, and found a pair of Cofra Force Class 1 Chainsaw Boots, are these worth a purchase? Ive looked up the description and they sound pretty impressive but obviously some more knowledgable advice would be helpful as i dont want to waste money (The course has sucked up most of my cash!!) thanks again
  7. cool cheers for the advice, ill get on buyin the boots now! Thanks for the link, very helpful and quite entertaining to read!! Sounds like groundwork is like some sort of military hazing The hours and work load arent an issue, i currently do long, mostly unsociable hours with lots of heavy lifting etc so that aspect wont be an issue. Hopefully something will come out of applying to so many firms, and if not ill have to keep on trying! Thanks for the advice, much appreciated
  8. Hi everyone im brand new to this whole Arb business but i need your help if you're willing!! I am currently un-experienced in this field of work but want to get into it in any way possible. Im contacting local tree surgery firms and giving them CV's etc but have had no joy so far. Ive signed up for a Chainsaw and Cross Cutting course with Writtle College in Chelmsford and have been told that Ill need to bring my own chainsaw safety boots. I therefore have two questions, firstly what is the best way to get into this field of work apart from doing what i am currently doin? And secondly, in regards to chainsaw boots, I have got a pair of DeWalt steel toe capped/ steel soled high-top boots for my current job, will these be sufficient or do i need specific ones as all the ones ive seen arent much different to the boots i own! Any advice/ response will be greatly appreciated
